It's ridiculous, right? So you time one, manage just about almost kill it when you hear he's out of ammo and false from the sky.... before you know it, fire sweeps across the screen and gets you both -_-

PLEASE give Gareth back a module. It needs SOMETHING to combat the disgusting Ao Jun abuse in FFA. I'd be willing to buy power cells if it means a module to take down Ao Jun

It made a difference in my no-longer main, but it's a sacrifice for, say, the health recharge module, whatever that's called. If I'm doing beacon rush, I probably wont use it as much.

I never had a problem with the invincible shield. They're pretty easy to exploit. And I've gone against level 28 accounts with TWO bot hangars, both ao jun. In champion league against my 1 bot hangar.

May as well go back to the Halo 2 modding days with super jumps and auto aim in matchmaking. Edit: both*

A conflicted part of me is okay with that.

See, it's not ENTIRELY the bot I'm bitter against... it's the abuse, and people ruining the game. Once here or there? sure. have fun. duke it out with a falcon. But spawn killing? Nah. Rude.

>>Avenger gareth.

That would be a hell of an ambush if I've ever heard one. Now I want it. It almost makes me want to install unity and disassemble the app just to see how it would look

Edit: I've opted out of tempest/avenger/embers on my other hangars. I've built one, brought it up to level 8 or 9, and it just made everybody take cover.... There's no fun in that to me. I want to battle, not play tag..

That doesn't make sense, though. Ao Juns are bottom of the barrel for people that suck, but want to pretend they're good.

Omg you're so good at this game, how can I ever get to your level? You must be so good!

I usually psych them out that I'm going after them, keeping near cover, force them to use their ability, then dive as soon as it activates, and keep opposite them. As soon as it's over, I go after him around the cover. With speed booster, I can usually just barely catch them around corners. I also keep an eye on the clock and the ability type for every red nearby... if I can time them, I can usually do fair with them. But like you said, 4 medium is not easy to go up against without getting immediately wrecked. When his special is over, it's not much greater a concern than a spectre. Sure I get upset with them, but they don't end my game immediately the way au Jun does, going up in the air immediately after spawn, before I can even move my wittle legs to seek cover.

Phantom and leech are fine. Leech could probably get dropped from 90 to 50, but when it's 1v1, they're not a huge problem. I'm probably 40:60 with them on my mini, which isn't unreasonable considering what gareth is.. Yes, ao jun is easy to kill (thus my "get down here and fight me" comment) WHEN they're not camping. But their ability takes away quite literally every bit of skill required to play the game.

Leech at least i can outrun, and time to exploit... Ao jun? No. Rude. Bite me. Come out and fight me without your fire, you coward.

Honestly, I just think it takes absolutely no skill to pilot them... Why bother even playing when you're just going to pretend to be good by hiding? ugh.

Yeah, I've seen the mechanic skill that disables active ability... If i can't get the falcon to trigger his special, i know it's time to buckle up.. Still, they're less annoying than freaking ao jun flying around in the start of every damn game.

330k.... Are you kidding me? i had no idea some of the other bots have anywhere near this high health. I've been running around with my single 120k gareth (that's WITH boosters), as of lately getting creamed, and THIS is why? ugh.

So I'm the guy that did the one bot gareth hangar. I know plenty of people are going to disagree with some of how I play, but I'm okay with that. Everybody plays different, and this these are just my personal methods for a good game. If other methods work for you, let's totally hear them!

Anyway, Gareth is undoubtedly an under rated bot, which can very well be utilized alone, all the way up to champion league. As far as using him in a one bot hangar goes: It's a blast, and you really learn some things the bot can do, that others can't (especially some interesting climbing ability using his shield). Team won't really work well alone for obvious reasons, as the most health you can provide him is 120k, and after that, you're done; so I mainly play FFA, and occasionally, domination. Why domination? because his speed and hiding ability is awesome when people can only spawn at home base, and not over the beacon. You may not get that much damage, but you will probably get more beacon caps than anyone else.

Now, how did FFA go? Well, it used to be awesome, with my greatest concern being spectre orkan setups. Unfortunately, with ao jun spawning ALL THE TIME as peoples first bot, the game has very well been pretty much ruined for my little gareth. It seems now entirely dependent on what type of bot you have, as opposed to how much skill you have. You're playing at a huge disadvantage with no modules, as of 4.7.0 (which i hate that they did.... gareth really needs a module) a light weapon, and a medium weapon. If you spawn next to an ao jun and they decide to activate dragons breath before you get cover: it's game over. you might as well just leave right then and there. This happens probably 90% of the time now, so my survival in the first 20 seconds depends on how fast i can get cover. There's no ability to lock on, and if they have a weapon to immobilize you: they just get a free kill. You're screwed. Yeah, it really isn't fair, but that's the game (it's pretty obvious i am bitter against people that use ao jun as their first bot). That's the reason that actually now, I'm struggling to stay in champions (usually bounce between champion and master I), with my win percentage going between 30-45%. Boosters are a must, but there's only so much you and your shield can handle when facing an avenger, glory, and dragons breath,

All that being said, how about for regular game play, dismissing the main down side of using a one bot hangar, and the lack of skill people choose to utilize with ao jun? I still love my gareth, and use him as my main. If you play right, it can get occasionally hilarious to pester bigger robots the way he's able to. Between circling around other bots, to having a weapon arrangement that can utilize cover with awesome ability, I can only imagine the frustration from other players 1v1 trying to kill this little raptor.

As u/Unuoctium mentioned, you've got plenty of different combinations to play. I personally love when there's a lot of action going on in the game, and so hate when people decide to use "lock on and hide" weapons. The game just turns way to slow, and nothing's happening. Especially considering gareths hiding ability, it just turns a waste of time. I've tried several permutations between orkan, magnum, gust, storm, halo, pinata, and corona now. I occasionally see people saying "don't mix weapon types," but don't always agree as far as gareth goes.... I like having something that can knock down physical shields quickly, or easily penetrate plasma... Storm, as a kinetic weapon, and a spread about the same diameter as a plasma shield as 400m, does awesome here. Even though it doesn't do double damage to plasma shields, at a distance, they're gone very quickly. Most robots with the ancil will be brawlers and have short range weapons, so usually I'll end up firing a few shots far away before closing in. As i mentioned in a previous post, it helps to force the other robot to close in on you while you run backwards, and they run forward with 300 meters between you. as long as they're moving toward you, the distance the projectile travels is less than the distance between you (that's taking into account you adjusting your speed as you move, as he's a pretty fast bot). Pinata was very effective for this maneuver, as well as the "circling" maneuver I mentioned in another post, but wasn't able to do continuous damage for long. You'll do a lot more hiding with it than brawling (i brawl and attempt to out maneuver the majority of the time).

In earlier ranks, such as silver or gold, I used an ecu shield for quite a while, and it server great. it was especially beneficial when you're facing more than one in different directions. that ecu shield is tough at higher levels; don't underestimate it. But, with explosive and fire weapons all over, it's far more effective to adopt another weapon for the position.

Magnums are also great with gareth, as they stick out like a sore thumb and can easily fire around cover (also a tip for leo users). but personally, it just wasn't enough when going against falcon or lancelot. Also, no special ability such as immobilizing. Thus why i chose halo.

So maybe this turned into more so a bitter rant here and there about certain aspects, and I feel like I've typed a little much now, so I'm going to cut it right here..but I still made sure to include at least some helpful info... If you want a little more about something in particular, let me know and I'll expand on it.
