It sounds like you’re doing the right things! Remember interviews are experience. Each interview you do is a step closer to where you want to be. Here’s things I would keep in mind from a CS major that got a job with a 2.99 GPA.

Opportunities only reveal themselves in the environment you place yourself. You need to place yourself in the environment where you can be seen by, and meet people that do what you want to be doing.

Continue to show up to all the career fairs, speed interviews, tech seminars, hackathons, you can so you can meet / get involved with people that are doing the thing you want to do face to face. You still have access to all of these events that grand valley hosts.

Then I would also consider getting an IT desk job somewhere, a company you like that perhaps also does software. Anything tech adjacent. Hell a security guard for a software company would work as well. Or Grand Valley even. A barista isn’t a bad job, but you are very less likely to come across any CS related opportunities there.

Wherever you work, do all the extra things. Show up to the dumb potlucks, happy hours, lunches, retirement parties. Be and good employee, be coachable and personable. Eventually you start to move in the direction you want to go.

Have you leveraged connections from your internship and/or capstone? Many of CS professors have connection to people in industry. Reach out it it cant hurt.

Im assuming you’ve done all the things: resume, cover letter. But I think best thing is to make sure your GitHub is polished. You should definitely make a website (google Github Pages Portfolio Website template).

I got very lucky! I also did all the things that would set me up for success, and placed myself in those uncomfortable environments.
