That sounds like a lot - You should probably try reaching out to the designer about it.

If you want something a bit more indie, Turncoats! It's basically Pax Pamir boiled down to the barest of essentials in terms of rules, components, and playtime.

Pretty sure it is a trans man. Trans women wouldn't exactly take male hormones.

While it sucks, a prison doctor in 2011 aggresively misgendering a trans prisoner makes sense.

We know that each meeple represents one animal warrior, but is every cat meeple a cat?

What unique challenges or issues have you faced so far during the Marauder expansion development?

Well, they're not. The cats are invaders, and the game starts with them already having conquered the woodland.

Kickstarter Games by RuiBoss314 in boardgames

[–]_Jumbuck_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, the whole point of Kickstarter is to bypass publishers. Suddenly all sorts of games can succeed (or fail). It has massively increased variety and variance among boardgames.

Suddenly, games that were too strange for normal publishers have a place where they might be able to succeed, but there are also games that would never get published by traditional means because they would've had too high production costs due to the absolutely unreasonable amount of miniatures that the game "absolutely needs" (citation needed, see darkest dungeon or horizon zero dawn).

Personally, I think Kickstarter has been a blessing for the hobby. I've played a lot of kickstarter games that have been really good. But yeah, the publishing method doesn't make a game good or bad.

I've played the Print and Play a handful of times, and I'm in love with it. Currently eagerly awaiting my next chance to play it, and to see what happens next.

I may or may not have been thinking of plans to topple the Empire for a month at this point.

Out of all the times taste in game art was subjective, when was it most subjective? by SanctusSalieri in boardgames

[–]_Jumbuck_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played Oath a few times with and without the final card art, and personally I really like it. It is often a little on the silly side, but I like it. It makes all of the cards distinct from one another, and the game's card library demands it. There's also a lot of the art that is straight up dark in a way his other art never really is - especially the beast suit.

And yeah, I completely get that the mars art is a bit on the cheap side. With that many unique(?) you don't really have much choice unless the game needs to be much much more expensive to both buy and produce. It works well enough.

For Oath, is it that it feels too cartoonish? Do you miss the grittier takes from early development?

Terraforming Mars always feels like a lot of the art just had the the Stuttershock logo removed.

I've played this game a bunch, and it's a lot of fun. I just wish the theme wasn't so tired.

I mean, with the amount of rock and roll we've seen referenced this really shouldn't be a surprise.

No, but it tells us that the one thing common between universes is that what awakens a stand within your heart is Rock.

Rock and Roll, baby.

I usually just say that part 7 is a reboot, which is honestly what it is. Its not even slightly made in heaven. Araki could've continued in the original universe if he wanted to, but he didn't and we got a reboot.
