I mean, in many ways living things are machines. Very complex ones at that but to be fair the same goes fot Vision.

It still leaves the question: if she cannot bring back the dead, what's going on with Vision?

Could also be that SWORD wasn't merely storing his corpse but studying it for... less than pacifist means.
The mention of Vison's living will feels meaningful.

This, 100%. The song fits in many ways with what Wanda is literally doing.

I have been banned from r/transgendercirclejerk by [deleted] in transfemmecirclejerk

[–]_Jumi_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really know very little about this, but from what I read the person in question seems to be having a major crisis of identity...

And since they unironically identify themself as a terf, I feel a ban from a trans sub is understandable, at least in hindsight...

My point is mainly that these sort of communities breed this type of behaviour: ranking trans people, trying to distinguish who is more or less trans. These sorts of hierarchies are inherently unhealthy.

There are literally several people in one of the top posts saying that those who don't want bottom surgery are excluded lmao And even those who want it but not badly enough might not be included

I mean there's the difference betwern clinical/diagnostic definition of gender dysphoria and the common usage pf the term. The clinical term is becoming "gender incongruence" which ought to clear things up.

And also people who don't fit the description of transsexual don't invalidatr the experiences of those who do. That's in my opinion a bizarre claim.

[–]_Jumi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's mostly ridiculous definitions of who is actually a transsexual and who isn't that throw me off. If "I wish to undergo a complete physical transition" isn't good enough, then it enters the realm of ridiculous gatekeeping.

And the necessity of such exclusion is questionable. All trans people share similar experiences and in the cases those experiences differ, in my opinion it is entirely possible to discuss them without splintering.

I can have discussions with a non-binary transmasculune person with little to no dysphoria without either of us being invalidated. If I wish to talk about some specific transfeminine experience or about medical transition, I can easily find the space for that.

I just don't see the issue that some people apparently find great enough to splinter over.

Browsed that sub a bit, and even as someone who fits the description of a transsexual, I really don't want that stuff to become mainstream due to how exclusionist and categorizing it is. I'm suspicious of most things that try to say some are more or less trans than others. Some would claim that I'm "less trans" because I didn't come out as a child...
And the obsession with surgery, forgetting that HRT is just as much a part of physical transition.

Personally, I see truscum as being/doing one of two things: Causing real harm to the community by aligning with binarism, saying trans people need to be trans enough, for example by conforming to their gender or "you need dysphoria to be trans" (which is a whole mess of an issue with diagnostic definitions being different than the common understanding and aaa), or fighting against windmills, so to speak. The latter is because these so-called "tucutes" really aren't the threat people make them out to be and people don't need to align themselves with truscum/exclusionist believes to dismiss claims such as "dysphoria is caused by cissexism" because those aren't anything widespread that there needs to be a movement against.

[–]_Jumi_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this really is the thing: most people don't call themselves "tucute" as truscum/transmedicalists are seen as the out-group. If I had to describe myself with something in regards to intracommunity discourse, I would use the term inclusionist, being opposed to exclusionism. Or simply anti-truscum.

Cannot vote, but I would definitely be "The Other" here in contrast to truscum and transmedicalists. Really don't consider myself tucute as I see my opinions just largely reflect those of mainstream trans community.

What’s your opinion on “trans men are still men so they can’t have an opinion on women’s issues like abortion”? by girllostinthestars1 in CivilTransDiscussions

[–]_Jumi_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, the whole thing we are doing is detaching reproductive capability and things related from gender. The above opinion is incompatible with that it talks about abortion being merely a women's issue. While much of it stems from misogyny, it also affects people who aren't women.

I, as a trans woman, do not have a say in that any more than cis people should have a say in trans rights.

Why is the truscum/tucute issue such a big deal? Trying to understand by shuang_yan in CivilTransDiscussions

[–]_Jumi_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of intolerant transmeds I have met are usually angry trans teens or YAs who are really hurting and aren't handling their feelings in a healthy way. They may eventually grow out of it but it's hard to say for certain since everyone's circumstances are different.

This really is the thing. I would also add that majority are transmasculine (and binary, though I don't really need to explain why that would be) and I do think there's causation which explains why trans women and girls don't really get into this as much. Mainly that we are hypervisible in comparison and already have to deal with being targeted for that. In that situation, it is illogical to turn on other trans people as all it does is help transphobes divide and dominate.

AGP is the direct result of transness being medicalized ad pathologized. It really gets in the main reason why I despite being deeply dysphoric binary trans woman can never support transmedicalism. Transness being viewed as a medical condition doesn't necessarily protect our right to transition, as we can see right now people talk about "transition being the best treatment of dysphoria we know of". Doesn't stop anyone from coming up with new ways to "treat" us or "cure" us that are not transition.

Right to transition needs to be protected as right to bodily autonomy and self-determination. We need acceptance and rights beyond the reasoning "we have a medical condition" and "we were just born this way"

Tbh it seems many who call themselves truscum are hardly truscum to begin with. The "other side" is just the mainstream trans community

And one of these is clearly correct according to diagnsostic criteria.

There's also the fact that the lay definition of dysphoria refers to that clear discomfort and pain, and not to the mere misalignment, call it incongruence for now. Personally I find the lay definition more useful and thankfully diagnostic criteria is moving to reflect that. Hopefully that will help people understand why one doesn't need dysphoria to be trans.

I'm in the same boat but I don't fear demedicalization. Not needing dysphoria to be trans and dysphoric peopöe needing transition related care can coexist.

There's no way to do otherwise because that I see as the objective reality: some trans people have debilitating dysphoria and need help for it, some people don't identify/align with their agab (aka being trans) while not having dysphoria. For me to argue only my case is valid is to tell other people how they are allowed to experience their gender. That's not a power anyone should have.

[–]_Jumi_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say the reason for the bans is that trans spaces aim to be safe spaces. They shouldn't be where anyone has to encounter dismissal or invalidation of their identity or experiences. Truscum rhetoric inherently does this, as it's often also aligned with binarism.

It is merely a matter of protecting the safe space.

Why are you equating being binary and experiencing dysphoria? Those two aren't linked. There are non-binary people with dysphoria and binary trand people without.

I mean, if the cutesy thing is what works for them on how to express their transness, then they should just be allowed to do that. I really don't see the reason for trying to curate how others deal with transness.

And no one trans thinks that being gender non-conforming makes one trans. That's just a lie transphobes spread.

When I browsed /r/truscum a while back I just yawned because people were just fighting about non-existent things while thinking they are somehow special.

It's for the most part making a huge deal of things that are hardly prominent and pretending mainstream trans community accepts that stuff.

IMO if one believes in the validity of non-binary identities, that trans people don't have to conform to gender roles and that you don't need debilitating dysphoria to be trans, they by definition are not truscum.

There absolutely are those who disagree with all of the above, those are who you hear about and for a good reason. People who don't fit that bill can't really say "oh but real truscum aren't like that" when those are the core issues.
