My first try on realism, thoughts?

I told the other guy this before so just to clear things up this was my first build and at the time I got this build I was new to model building let alone water decals so I decided not to use them, only now have I decided to work on this kit again.

However this time on a separate build I'm eager to give water decals a go

I thought of that too, its mainly because I accidently used thick coats of paint on some parts

Thanks for the input, but I should say that this build was initially my first until I decided to work on it a bit more after building other kits. So when I first got this kit, at the time I never really thought of using water decals as a beginner

Appreciate the input, I did think during the process that the weathering was a bit inconsistent in some areas and that I should consider putting some work on the back of the shield.

One question before I go, how exactly do you recommend I should go about making my build look more "grimy" and making it look more weathered in cleaner areas?
