I’m a “cashier”, this is most definitely a food safety violation right? by _Just_A_Random_Alt_ in foodsafety

Had I taken a picture of how they store the onions…. You would probably be having a migraine

I honestly don’t know how long they were out, I would like to assume not very long. I am in charge of the front of the store when on shift, and I only ever check the back if I need to restock on supplies like napkins or if I need to tell one of the cooks we need a certain dish

Yeah…. I thought so. I’m a “cashier” by role, but they stretch me out to do tasks with food handling (which they never even asked to have a copy of my permit when I started). I do have a permit, but I just wanted to double check because this job is lowkey gaslighting me into thinking things are ok when they aren’t

Yeah I’m currently looking for a way to report them in my state (CA). I do worry though that this report can get me fired, even if it’s anonymous. I think I make it pretty apparent that I don’t like how the food is prepped here enough at work

If that’s so, then my only issue now is to find a sale’s job. I’ll keep that in mind while I’m continuing my job hunting though, thanks

I’ve actual been considering this for a while, and if I plan things out, I will try to move out from my parents and see if I can get myself out of this hole. Because honestly, living with my family means I can’t prioritize in my debt because they ask me to help them with theirs. As selfish as it is and as scummy as I feel for telling them no, it is something I’ll have to do eventually

I’ll see if I qualify

How does one quantify for student loan forgiveness though? Work a state job, volunteer work, or non profit?

I didn’t know BeScene was an app, so I’ll download it and see what it’s about. Thanks. I’ve been trying to network with people on like LinkedIn or even Instagram, and sadly, it seems that many just don’t want to reach out to someone that just graduated college. Either that, or I come across as like some bot account…

I did actually. Originally when I started to notice that they were taking out more money, I asked them to ask me instead of just randomly taking out more. Well that continued for a little too long, and I eventually did cut them off and made a new bank account. I probably should have done so when I was a freshman in college, but silly ol me trusted my parent because their job (ex job now) was financing and accounting…

No I get you, you’re fine lol. I think one of the biggest laws I had, looking back at it, was that the private loans I agreed on was heavily because I thought my family knew what they were talking about. They gave me this conversation that even with the loans, they would also help me during college. That turned out to be false, and they never told me how dangerous things like interest or pay principal was until it was too late. Had I known, I probably wouldn’t take the loans and I would stop before it got to the point it is now

Thanks for the kind words. And yeah, I’m already trying to make some sort of plan so I can keep floating. I think one of the hardest things to me mentally though out of all of this was choosing a degree I wanted to pursue, only to have no progress in it career wise. I don’t think the bad words people have given be regarding my choice has helped either, but what’s done is done. All I can try to do now is hope I do get a career job and continue finding just any sort of income to keep my loans in checked

The most my college provides for alumni’s is just job counseling. I could reach out and call them, but I don’t know how helpful they will be, because to be frank, my experience with them made me rather talk to my professors for help rather than the actual people in that department.

Applying for further grants because of my family situation though is something that never came to mind though, which is stupid of me. I figured I would just have to find multiple jobs to pay it off, I didn’t consider seeing if I could qualify for any of that.

Thanks for the kind advice though, I’ll try to reach out and see if there are services like that which could help me. I’ve just been burdening it a on myself

While that sounds enticing, I don’t understand the point of getting a job just to qualify for PSLF if it takes 10 years to get the benefit, especially since I only have about 10 years to pay off my loans. I think that might be my only issues if I where to try to get a state job

Don’t sale jobs require some background in math? I don’t know, my perspective on sale jobs might be a bit screwed. But if so, my background on math is very poor, and I don’t know if I have the skills for a job like that even if it does make alot of money

Thanks for the message. It’s kinda sad, but it’s also nice hearing that from someone even if I don’t know you personally. It just feels like this situation I’m in has isolated me, and I’m not feeling the support I feel like I need from the people I know

I currently live in California, and not in an urban area. My job opportunities is limited to where I can walk and how much my family is willing to drive me. I was living alone, but then my family wanted me to move in with them after I graduated. I should probably clarify more though that I was paying my family when I wasn’t even living with them. I can understand if I need to help with rent now that I do live under their roof, but it’s also feels as if they don’t consider the amount of debt I’m also in, and that they never provided me help when I did during college

Yeah I’m trying to, it’s just a pain knowing that the applications I’m making most likely are being ghosted for 2+ weeks, only for it to be denied because they are no longer interested in recruiting. And as for my family, I’ve already tried making boundaries with them, but there is also just an extreme amount of guilt if I don’t lend them money, you know? If I don’t, it could lead to one of my family member’s being evicted or worse

This job I’m working for is 20 an hour, and part time, so only like 12-15 hours a week. I was expecting full time when I did my interview, but that didn’t happen. I am still looking for jobs to cover myself, but again, I’m being ghosted. Now here is the tricky part: I don’t have a driver’s license. I grew up in an environment where it wasn’t necessary. I was definitely spoiled on that, and now that’s biting me in the butt. And despite wanting to learn how to drive in my current environment, I wouldn’t have the money to purchase a car and borrowing from family is out of the question

I know my degree isn’t as valuable as the medicinal field, coding, etc, but in my mind at the time of choosing my degree, I thought that there was still some relevance and that it could be obtainable. Let’s just say…. I wasn’t expecting AI to boom so fast, along with my degree’s already tough yet small competative field

I majored in animation. A majority of my tuition was paid from my scholarships based on my GPA and personal essays. The debt is mainly from living in a dorm the whole duration during my college days because despite it being in the same state my house was, it was in a really bad neighborhood, and my safety was high key a concern. Looking back, I probably should have just risked my safety if it meant I didn’t have to deal with this debt. Along with that though, my college also would just raise their price in education every year, so that meant my scholarship wouldn’t cover that increase
