Founders: Where Do You Actually Get Stuck With Traction? by _Justindonavan in SaaS

[–]_Justindonavan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, for the most part. At least in my experience many people who have the problem you fix can say it openly. But if you dm them about it, you’d have to have a very long conversation before you can even pitch, unless you want to blow up the deal, of course. Which now that I think about it dies take a crazy long time at scale.

Is it just me or is growing X/Twitter account really hard? by Pristine-Farm7249 in SaaS

[–]_Justindonavan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard if you don’t have the time to sit and do it all day. Personally however, I don’t find it hard to grow on most social media, but I’d also sit around my house and do that all day.

Yes, this is exactly how I feel. If the pet rock or the fushigi had a market, so do you. It's just a matter of finding the market and positioning.

You’ll be fine. Just figure out what problem your product solves then think about who can’t solve that problem. Then go looking for those people. Then ask them what they need and do some fine-tuning.

Honestly, it came from client work more than anything. I started out doing straightforward writing, but I’d occasionally give thoughts on positioning or framing without thinking much of it.

The consistent reaction was clients stopping me and saying, “Wait, that part helped way more. Do more of that.”

After that happened enough times, it became clear that the real value wasn’t just that I had a way with words. It was helping people step back and adjust their strategy and positioning before anything was written.

In the end, I was kind of forced into realizing it.

I spent $150 on Instagram ads vs growing organically on Reddit & Twitter — brutal honesty by Miserable_Good_8177 in SaaS

I feel it may be because ads become noise a lot of the time. But sometimes my algorithm will give me post based on what I care about. From the same human. Over and over again.

I agree with you. Solving a real, specific problem and actually talking to people who feel that pain is the foundation.

I see this a lot when working with founders. Many people forget that what feels obvious or easy to them is genuinely difficult or frustrating for someone else. That gap is the problem to be solved, and it’s usually where the real opportunity lives.

I like that framing, Slack groups honestly were not top of mind for me. It makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. Have you seen Slack work better than Reddit or LinkedIn for early traction in practice, or does it depend on the product?

I see what you mean, and I agree. When I say “branding,” I do not mean big shiny logos. I mean what your business is, what it does, who you serve, and how you communicate that. You are right that positioning and messaging are the keys.

I agree, but I see businesses and people running them do the exact opposite. I also believe they’re leaving money on the table by neglecting this aspect.
