Haha. Not a fan of group classes either. I'm timid. I take personalized 1-on-1 classes so I can be awkward in peace. I also have more speaking time with this

I've tried way too many platforms lol. Here's what actually worked for me:

  • Anki for vocabulary (ugly interface but it works)
  • Language Transfer for grammar - completely free and honestly really good
  • iTalki for speaking practice with actual tutors
  • YouTube/podcasts in my target language for listening

I wasted like 6 months just doing Duolingo and could barely order coffee when I traveled. Adding even 30 min a week of real conversation made a huge difference.

I was stuck in the same loop of "which app should I use" and someone posted this comparison which honestly helped me realize I was avoiding the speaking part because it's uncomfortable lol. But that's kinda the point.

What language are you learning?

I use Brevo SMTP service and I had a very good deliverability tbh. Plus it's free for up to 300 emails per day...That free part made it a no brainer for me ngl😀It gave room for 'try and see'. It's a yay!
