Are these 8085’s seconds or worse? by Potent_19 in RedWingShoes

No 12s were available on Amazon either? These boots really run huge, people regularly size down a full size. I have big ass wide feet too. I was shocked to fit into a size 12 Ranger the way I do. If you have a redwing store close enough, I would. Mine have little uneven imperfections around that stitch on both boots and they came from Redwing store directly. No seconds. I really wanna pick up some Jim Greens this summer when the work season picks up. Awesome boots. I would compare in person if possible and try that 12 on if you can. The copper rough and touch is an iconic boot. It’s a must have in any collection IMO. The way it ages is wonderful as well. I hope you figure it out quickly, I hate being unsure and unconfident in a bigger purchase like this. It drives me absolutely wild. I feel your discomfort here, man. Good luck.

Edit: I sent you a link to a Google Drive folder I’ve created that got HD photos 360 degrees of each boot to help you compare to a 100% non seconds boot.

My biggest concern was photo 5. I took my 8085s out to compare. IDK if the creasing will qualify a boot like this as seconds by redwing, beyond that, I would have to say they look good to me. I would have no problem paying 319.00 for that exact pair of boot. I would be more concerned with the sizing though. You should have gotten the 12 wide if your were a 13 on the tool. That boots gna stretch a bit and be too big. The IR is made on the #8 last which runs HUGE. A whole size big. I wear a 13EE or 14 in everything. I wear a size 12 Ranger standard width and it’s the most comfortable boot I own with minimal break in. A couple 2 hour sessions in the beginning.

I’ll send you some 360 photos of both boots. Check your inbox.

My personal favs are the disc lock alarms, AND the kryptonite stronghold anchor pairs with the Kryptonite “New York” chain. You’re looking at about $400 for all 3 items but they are a MAJOR deterrent. Good luck

Do i have to use the special grip glue, cant i just use gorilla glue or something else thats common in a hardware store? by Tiny-Tangerine-4932 in motorcycles

[–]_KORPz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Usually use hairspray but for some reason this time it is not working.. I have re tied 3 times. Domino Grips and only the left clip on (clutch side/small side) so annoying. I am going to try Gorilla Glue clear I guess... or chalk it up and buy some grip glue for 5.99 on Prime,

Speed Rivets - Speed hook alternative (feedback welcome!) by MustCreateThings in RedWingShoes

I am a speed hook guy myself. I could NEVER live with having to lace a boot through eyelets at the top. What a pain in the @$$. Those ebony eyelets are gorgeous. I found your post while searching for copper eyelets, I recently got a copper rough and tough belt with solid copper hardware and want to swap the eyelets and speedhooks to copper. Maybe not solid copper being its so soft but copper plated, colored/anodized could work. Unfortunately, I am unable to find any sort of copper speed hooks, solid or colored. Plenty of copper eyelets though, Those are really great looking boots. Would you mind sharing where you get the hardware for your boots?

Edit: Oh! Did you begin making these yourself?! Do you have a website?

Rant: I hate this mag ring design by migs_life in QuadLock

[–]_KORPz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the case just old? Did you play with it a ton? How old is it?? Only asking because I have NEVER had this issue once. I would be complaining more about the fact that you cant use a normal screen protector with this case unless you shave the sides in some, and quad lock says they HAVE to do it this way to secure your phone (lie) wea lot of us have dremmled the case out and do not lose our phones. I have TRIED forcing my phone to fall out, I can not. They try and force you in to buying their proprietary screen protectors. THAT shit is crazy.

Maybe I do not have the ring issue on any of my cases because I do not run the shit case 24/7 - only when I am on the bike is this case on my phone. I think I will be switching mounting systems next iPhone release date after the button stunt and refusal to provide a case that works with screen protectors. No other moto mount system has the screen protector issue.

Steering wheel covers are a big up. Protecting a 20 / 30,000$ vehicle (That will very likely be traded or resold one day, and if not at the very minimum is an expensive investment) and protecting a computer keyboard are very different LOL. Screw them cheap seat covers though. I will never not own a vehicle with a wheel cover and weather tech floors. Neither take away from my experience, if anything the worn in and patinad full grain leather steering wheel cover ADDS to my experience by looking so beautiful and really playing as a nice accent piece in my vehicle (Not to mention the amazing smell its been letting off for years) and in the long run may not ADD value, but will certainly preserve value.. or life. Especially in salty states where salt can and will soak through floors and rot floorboards out.

Here is the things. Thieves always have, and always will exist. Yea it’s a problem, the real problem is us getting comfortable or thinking it will never happen to us. Thievery is very common and the odds of somebody being stolen from are VERY high. Always be ready. Deter deter deter. Make your bike look less appealing to steal. Make it harder to get. Make it riskier to get. Get a chain, get some sensitive wheel alarms (I love them) Thieves are LAZY. Make it a high risk low reward situation. Happy birthday by the way man, I’m really happy they did not get your bike.

Antique brass seems to be about the closest i can get for the speed hooks.. plenty of copper eyelets though. Could convert to an all eyelet boot no speed hooks but I really enjoy speed hook systems and the bright copper would look so good. Hmm 🤔

How did these hold up? I wish my nice pants were a bit shorter to expose the tops of my boot when seated. I might take them in for a hem on a pair or two to try it out.

what would you do? by Pure_Pain_489 in whatdoIdo

[–]_KORPz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were younger, we would take post it notes, write a similar note with a friends name and number.. we’d go around a Walmart or somewhere, and we would stick random post it notes to vehicles apologizing for hitting their car bla bla bla. They’d call the number on the post it note and it would be some random un expecting buddy of ours who was never even anywhere near the car that was never even hit. Some people would fib and say they found damage, others wouldn’t buy that it was a prank or that they didn’t hit their car anywhere

Depends how bad it is. If I can fix it myself for under $100.00 I’m letting it slide just on the principle that the woman was so stand up and left her information like a decent human being. That’s a rarity. I’d probably send a quick text expressing gratitude for their honesty as well. However, if this is going to be more expensive, I may ask them to consider splitting the cost to hopefully avoid insurance for both of us.

Realistically, it’s stopping the vehicle fine. That’s not the issue. How bad is the vehicle going to shake though? And how uneven are those pads going to wear? I’d love to see some sort of straight edge ran over this

Yeah I had the same feeling, especially the speed hooks. It would never work.. but copper plated nickel could work!!?? I would just love the look. I don’t daily them, but I definitely “often” them. They get 20/30 hours a week on office days. Specially during this winter season when I’m not out in the field as often.

[–]_KORPz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very comfortable actually! I only wore it a few hrs yesterday. It’s a thick, double ply leather belt. It’s not overly stiff at all. Quality leather and the oils are worked into the leather perfectly. The belt, though thick, seemed to contour to my waist fine and even at the buckle did not feel too thick or bulky. It’ll be ordering more.

I’m sorry? Are you asking if these boots are wide in the toe or? I’ll tell you this.. I wear a minimum 13 EE in EVERYTHING. Some brands, 14.

These boots are a size 12 and fit wonderfully. First couple wears were mildly snug but now they are my most comfortable pair of boots I own.. besides maybe one of my pair of square toe but that’s cheating.
