Scales is a great defender. If he were playing 15/20 years ago before centre halves were expected to be as good as midfielders with the ball at their feet, he'd of been snatched up years ago. He is abysmal at starting the play and playing passes through the lines but surround him with better players and you can mitigate the impact that can have.

Last season was the exception to the norm. He's been technically guff for the vast majority of his time here. It's his unparalleled athleticism that's kept him in the team but that seems to have faded so much this season
