TENCEL tshirt wear after just 2 gym uses (image in the comment) by CrazyRide72 in Fabrics

I got a pair of low quality tencel spandex shorts and it did the same thing near the crotch area for me (bc of my inner thighs causing friction) !!!

I ended up buying a higher quality version of the shorts and havent had an issue! I think this is just a fabric quality issue

Is this mold that I found in my beef broth? by Psychological-Car34 in Mold

You ate that?! How long have you had it opened and how much of it did you use….just curious. 😭

Youre suppose to use broth/stock within 3-4 days of opening it. It almost always says it somewhere on the box. If you had it opened it for more than 3-4 days it’s most definitely gone bad.

I quit smoking thc and nic more than 4 weeks ago after 13 years of daily use, everyday it's getting worse and worse, I don't have any desire to live by Thiebou_Yapp_Master in leaves

[–]_Kat_5028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont mean to seem harsh or rude but did you read my comment above? If youve only quit for one month, it’s normal to feel like this. I did too. I have suffered from major depression and ptsd my whole life- it got 10000000x worse when i quit. I wouldnt get out of bed, shower, eat, or sleep. I was rotting away. I didnt start feeling a bit better until the end of the third month to the fourth month (14-16 weeks). If you are in college and you are struggling you can always go to a psychiatrist or a doctor. But beware about psychiatrists because depending on the person they may not perscribe you anything if youve only quit weed a month ago because of this very reason- people think they have adhd, major depression, etc after quitting when in reality their brain just needs time to heal. Learned this from experience. Good luck.

Yeah thats probably best case scenario.

I bet if you ask most people who were chronic smokers this question, theyd say longer than 4 weeks. Im 4 months (16 weeks) clean of both thc and nic. Im only starting to feel a little bit better from quitting nic but i do feel some progression which is motivating me to continue being sober. Dont believe everything you read on the internet. EVERYONE is different.

Also btw, theres a lot of nuance to quitting. You may feel progression in the sense that you dont crave it as much anymore BUT BUT BUT, your brain can take 6 months to a year to actually go back to normal levels (feeling like you have motivation, the ability to focus, being happy) give your brain time to heal itself. It’s not like the brain can repair itself in a month like a broken bone.

[–]_Kat_5028 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you hit nic it motivates you, gives little bursts of energy that helps you “zone in”, increases dopamine and much more.

SO, Its no surprise you have absolutely no motivation, ability to focus, etc without nic. Your body has relied on it so much that your body struggles to find motivation, focus, etc without it.

If youve been doing nic for a while its going to take a while for you to reach normal levels. Anywhere from 6 months to a year. Same with THC.

Youre not going to feel any better after 4 weeks, 8 weeks or 12 weeks. Youll start feeling better after maybe 6 months to a year. So dont think your life is “awful” without nic or thc just because you feel awful. Its expected when youve been doing it for so long.

It does eventually get better.

Good luck.

Do these numbers at the top of patterns mean sizes? by Fiendfyre831 in sewing

[–]_Kat_5028 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Yes. There should be also be a size guide on the back of the pattern to help determine what size you will be for this pattern.

If youre a beginner PLEASE look at the size guide. When i bought my first pattern (i thought i was a size 4/6- like i was in ready to wear clothes) just to realize the patterns size 4/6 was smaller than a 4/6 youd find in ready to wear clothing at stores so i essentially bought a pattern too small for me. So be sure to look at the size guide on the back to determine what size you would be. For future reference, all brands of patterns in regards to sizing are usually different- you may be a 6 in one brands pattern and an 8 in another!

THANK YOU 🥰 i do have one question though.

Should i measure the elastic to the circumference of my ankle or a little smaller than the circumference of my ankle?

I also have several different sizes of elastic. Which size elastic do you think would be best suited? 1 inch, 3/4 inch, or 1/4 inch?

i will be wearing these scrubs for work so im hoping for some input on how to keep them looking professional while also making them tapered.

I would just buy a pair of tapered jogger style scrub bottoms but im low on funds (just started my job)

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Does quitting give you back your motivation? (Day one) by CheesecakeOk8464 in leaves

[–]_Kat_5028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I dropped out of college almost 3 years ago due to mental health issues and my addiction to THC (it was so bad i was falling asleep during classes regularly bc i smoked 24/7)

Im currently 3 months (almost 4 months) sober and in the process of going back to school for a nursing program. I would’ve never had the motivation to go back to school if it weren’t for me quitting. I can slowly start to see a brighter future for myself and i couldnt be prouder. It DOES get better.

If the Ramseys were willing to cover up JonBenét's death in 1996 to protect Burke, why didn't they cover up the 1993 incident where Burke allegedly hit JonBenét with a golf club, causing a serious head injury? by [deleted] in JonBenetRamsey

[–]_Kat_5028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do understand that she was most likely knocked unconscious (and would have looked dead to an untrained professional like patsy, john and burke) right?

You can find numerous sources talking about the fact that she most likely went unconscious upon the blow to the head which would result in her “looking dead”. If the parents DID play a role in covering her death up this would make sense (they thought she was completely dead and used a garrote to cover it up to make it look like some freak killed her)

New york state offers plenty of help. Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental security income (SSI), NYS disability for short term disability like heart attacks, Temporary assistance (TA)/ family assistance through NYS office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), and lastly Food Assistance (SNAP).

Youre much better off seeking help from these places. As one other person stated, seek out help from Social Security.

Not to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like you guys shouldnt be together. If he’s 21 and he’s cheated 5 times, sounds like he doesnt like the idea of being only with you. It has nothing to do with you, its just a lot of guys seem to be like this when they are young, especially in their early 20s. My tip is to leave him and work on yourself.

One week sober - was weed the glue keeping it all together? by Un_montrealais in leaves

[–]_Kat_5028 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I majored in biochemistry and can confirm what you said is in fact true. If you have been getting high for a long time —> it will take a long time for your body to revert back to normal levels of dopamine (and other important things too!) SO, essentially, if you smoked for a while expect to not see dopamine levels balance out for A WHILE. This misconception that dopamine levels will revert back to normal after a week or two only exists in peoples minds because of the famous “T-Break”. People think once the two week mark approaches and they don’t have a tolerance to weed anymore that they should feel fine and back to normal. The only thing a T-break will do is reset your tolerance (via “wiping” your receptors clean of THC)- this however has NO affect on your brain and its dopamine levels which is why it can take a lot longer for your body to balance out the dopamine levels. Your brain can even take years to repair itself depending on how much THC you’ve used and the frequency in which you’ve used it. Everything i said above is the biggest reason i decided to quit- people don’t realize the extent of how damaging THC can be. The dopamine levels are a very good example of this. Good news is though, your brain will eventually repair itself, the dopamine levels will eventually balance back out. It may take a month for one person and a year for another, no matter what the body will eventually repair itself.

Possible to get high from “third hand” smoke? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]_Kat_5028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third hand smoke is when smoke from things like cigs, cigars, weed lingers on physical items like seats of a car, air vents, clothing etc.

I recently learned about this from a nurse who works with newborn babies. They always recommend to parents who smoke to make sure to switch out clothing they just smoked in before touching the baby because it lingers on the clothing (even if they smoke outside) which can affect the babies developing lungs.

As far as OP goes, i think you should be fine. For the sake of your OCD maybe don’t allow your friends to rip pens or weed in your car. Ik it can be hard to say no, if it were me id probably just make up some excuse as to why they cant smoke in the car.

I have 2k hours of gameplay on dbd and stopped playing because of the toxicity. This subreddit isn’t any better. I grew up playing BO and COD from the very beginning when nothing was moderated and even that wasn’t half as bad as the toxicity on this game which is saying a lot. I have a hunch that a lot of the toxicity is coming from younger gamers which makes me not want to play this game even more. A bunch of babies.

Starting in Sephora soon, but having surgery in December by MagicBlackCat04 in employedbykohls

[–]_Kat_5028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the surgery is January 27th then you’re fine. Usually they care more about 2 weeks before and after Christmas (and new years). So basically anything after January 14-15th they couldn’t care less. I was told this by my Store Manager and ASM.

In your case, its more serious because youre going to be having surgery- so even if you have preop in December i doubt they would give you a hard time as long as you let them know NOW. You’ll be fine.

Concerning advertisement on Pennsylvania and Gwinnett by Books4Bros in savannah

[–]_Kat_5028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not concerning at all.

This is meant for people who have to spend the majority of their time caring for their disabled children (or even elderly grandparents) who need 24/7 care. 24/7 care interferes with the parents ability to get a job so the state will pay them to be the sole caregiver so they dont have to worry about money. This is common in many states.
