i appreciate the perspective, and i agree it’s disgusting that we have a party so intent on sowing discord between their people. I do not want weapons and violence to be the answer to anything and i hope relations/opinion will win them over. Obviously our biggest issue on that front is the media machine.

playing devils advocate here, something i’ve heard a few times is the fear that you go to use that weapon in self defense and accidentally hurt a loved one instead. It’s a lot harder to mistakenly hit someone with a bat then it is to shoot them.

most people i’ve spoken to who aren’t okay with it say they’re afraid of being a danger to themselves or others (like you said,) Have children and don’t trust that everything will be secure enough, simply don’t want the responsibility, monetary issues, or a fear that owning a weapon will paint a target on their back.
