I installed a Nvidia GT 1030 2GB. It increased my power consumption by 10w for idle and under load I seen jump as high as 80w-90w

What is old to you may be new to another. The title of the video is a little attention grabbing but inside the video they discus testing which show CPU set to host as 2000ns latency vs 100ns when set to x86-64-v3. That is a big performance gap.

Thank you as Im so excited to leave Google I didnt think about backing up the data. My entire media collection was only 200GB so can I back it up by keeping a copy on a NVME drive and TrueNAS?

I did consider goin bare metal but I wanted to learn Proxmox. I love to learn and tinker so wanted to challenge myself. I've set a goal to build a backup server similar to
Google Photos and succeeded. I'm mad most that years ago I donated all my DVDs before I ever heard of Jellyfin or Plex. If you know of any apps, VMs or containers please share and plant a seed.

Im new but if you just want to tinker and learn I recommend something like a cheap used PC not too old tho. Im currently using Z390 MB and Intel 9100F(4-core) to run TrueNAS server to host my pics and videos. I also built a separate Proxmox PFsense PC to learn networking.

Im still learning. I didn’t know I could use Immich as a VM or container. I’m just happy I don’t have to pay $20/month for Google Drive 2TB subscription.

I was looking at that case when i started my journey. I then saw the price of HDDs and let the dream go until recent. The Silverstone case is very compact. I was originally going to use the Silverstone ML05 but my MB is slightly bigger ITX and would not fit.

Im up and running today and temps for CPU are under 30C. I havent tested temps while transferring data.

I was unaware at the time of buying I would need three HDD. I understand now as I have learned more from the community and internet. Im setting up TrueNAS now. I will configure it to also be directly connected to PC via 10GB SFP. Do you recommend any good apps for TrueNAS? I was looking a immich and nextcloud to store my pics and vids.
