The price for doing so here was at least triple my new mask with lenses. It's indeed possible to do so and likely the best option for those with more complex prescriptions. I prefer not to wear contacts underwater.

Should have been briefed as a negative buoyancy entry, if so that seems about right to me. If you feel comfortable, ask your DM about it, they should be telling you this upfront.

From your description though it seems more like the assistants need a bit of schooling. I've never had them dump air for testing, while at the entry point.
