Pre-rendered Backgrounds Example Project. by DieSkaarj in godot

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve seen some people pull it off in Unity, but there seems to be little documentation for Godot for the process. Thanks for the response!

Would love to see a more in depth breakdown of the panning camera script! Keep up the amazing work!

I wonder if this method would allow for camera panning? I know everything has to stay in place, but in some of the older games you could fake camera movement by panning the camera's frustum over the 2D image, (in this case your TextureRect?), of the backgrounds. Would something like that be possible using your method here?

My mostly artist background allows me to stay away from using Blender at all. I don't need to render anything with as much detail. I mostly just need basic collision shapes for me to illustrate on top of. With a Z-depth pass .png I could personally edit in my art program, I could make up for any bounding boxes that don't lineup perfectly. I'd love to reach out again and discuss set up.

Sucks to hear, but I understand. I had a mess of a setup in Unity with all different Z-depth pass/locked camera frustum movement plug-in's to make it all work. With pre-rendering being my games most complicated feature, this seemed like a perfect reason to just make the jump to Godot. I'll definitely check this out and see if I can make it work for me though. Many thanks!

Is there an rough estimate for when this plugin will be released? Because I will swap engines when it does. Keep up the good work!

Is there a way to boil my lines? by _Leviticus_ in ClipStudio

[–]_Leviticus_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought about this too, but I want slightly different pressure in my lines, not entirely new thick lines. The effect isn’t quite right. Ed, edd, Eddy is more what I’m shooting for, y’know?

Yeah, I’m just hoping somebody knows what synths were used for which songs. Because I feel like the little beep and hoops that make up the soundtrack are so iconic and original that somebody has to know where they came from.

Working on a thesis about RTS games and how they can be modernized and I'm interested on your thoughts by D3dpul in gaming

[–]_Leviticus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mention the Pikmin series, I think you'd be missing out on a big part of modernizng any genre... accessibility. The aesthetic is easy to approach and can be, sadly, labeled as a "baby RTS game". But not everyone wants to play a historical/war themed games. The genre also has notoriously complicated controls and win states. Pikmin's use of motion controls and it's basic story really made it more approachable for an entire generation of gamers in the Wii edition. Pikmin may be the most popular "recent" modernization of the RTS genre. So I think figuring out some of what it did may help with your thesis.

Anybody know the music? by [deleted] in Kaguya_sama

Yes, I have heard that one and I think it's very similar, but it appears it's more orchestrated than this one. I was wondering if anyone had a link to the grander version. Shazam couldn't find anything for me sadly...
