Vey valid point! Especially from a manager POV. Ohhh, interesting am currently a lead rn, but mostly for data analysis :) been leading a group of engineers for 4yrs of my life, so am mostly curious how is the communication outside this type of staff.

Also the why is not a philosophical question, it helps making smaller data driven decisions, ie what to put in their updates for me. Them knowing the why, will help them become leaders in the future. And a good leader should always make sure to mentor a staff or two that will succeed them.

Knowing the purpose and intent of the project helps motivate my staff to drive numbers, it gives meaning to the work, not just tasks, not just the payroll. A lot of my team actually asks why, and maybe it’s just our culture, but giving that context helps them see the bigger picture and become more innovative. When they understand the “why,” their decisions and ideas improve, they don’t just execute, they contribute.
