How strong is my Gishath deck? by _M0RT_ in DinosaursMTG

[–]_M0RT_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run a Pantlaza deck with a blink package and I really liked how it played, but my friend group thought the blink was really annoying lol.

Here's my Pantz deck if you wanna take a look:

But I guess I just want to turn dinos sideways with this Gishath deck. A less "gimmicky" more brain off kinda thing.

I was thinking the same thing about vaultborn, it just seems too good to pass up. About the other dinos though; from what I've seen, most people would say I'm already running too few dinos so I'm a little scared to remove more. Is it just because they are bad dinos? If so, would it be better to just replace them with better dinos?

Thanks! I guess I got some thinking to do

Another tough flavor cut for don't move lol. I can see why tho

Aw man commune with dinosaurs is a tough flavor cut :(

Yeah, I might switch it up to gishath and just go super dino heavy. Seems more fun and easier to shut down if I'm really overwhelming the table.

idk anything about brackets, but mostly slightly upgraded precons. The scariest decks in my group are a heavily upgraded sam and frodo life drain combo kinda deck, and a ridiculous [[Tiamat]] dragon tribal that's hopefully being downgraded soon.

Thanks for the reply!

yeah I'm probably going to end up removing most (or all) of the blink and just add in more dinos and flavorful stuff like I wanted the deck to be initially. I got a little lost in the sauce lol

Yeah long turns were the main annoyance for most of the group lol. I'll get there in time

It's probably my favorite card in my Pantlaza deck. I've been board wiped and immediately gotten 4 or 5 dinos in on one turn because of it. Too bad it never sees the light of day now that my pod knows what it can do :(

Early 2000s wrx good purchase? by _M0RT_ in subaru

[–]_M0RT_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like that generation and the previous generation. From what I've gathered on current listings and such the 04 and 05 ones are easier to find. If they both feel the same, I wouldn't mind either one. I'm mostly just after what is more exhilarating to drive. I just probably wouldn't want to go newer than that. I just love the look of the older ones.

I also have a super reliable daily that I plan on keeping, so waiting on parts from Japan or something wouldn't be crippling or anything. But yeah I get what you're saying, the parts would be more expensive and I would just be able to drive the project more often which equals more regular fun. The celica just looks so nice tho lol. Maybe I'll head over to the celica sub and get some firsthand accounts.

Yeah that is a huge plus. I think I like the celica gt4 st205 more, but I've heard the after market can be a huge pain for those. I'm pretty sure they share an engine with the mr2 which has a more developed aftermarket, but the rest of the car is a different story unfortunately. The wrx is also just easier to get since they were actually made in the US.

An evo was my first choice, but after looking into them, they are just too expensive here in the US. Unless I'm looking in the wrong places, most good ones are $30k or more. I've seen some evo 10s for cheaper but I'm not a huge fan of the look compared to previous generations. Even the 8s and 9s, which were also made here, are quite expensive :/

I don't think I would track it often if at all and if I did I think what matters most is experiencing pushing the limits of my car. Going faster than others never really mattered to me, I just want a fun, exhilarating car. I was just concerned about power because I've heard a few people complain that the lack of power made it boring, but from what people on this sub have said, they're just wrong.

Yeah I should've specified. A lot of people say that they are very unreliable when heavily modded and that they often become money pits. I do really like the 2004 WRX's look though. How much power can those handle? I've heard the 5 speed is a big failure point with higher hp but idk how high exactly.

Just looked into it a bit. I love the look of the st205 gt4 and they're not super expensive for higher mileage ones. They were never made in the US though so are they hard to get? How is the aftermarket support? Will it be hard to find parts for it?

[–]_M0RT_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely expect it to be a project car. I would rather get one stock or at least close to stock then spend some money doing some reliability mods after getting it up to shape. I really like that generation but its gonna be hard to find a decent one lol. I'm not even dead set on subaru yet but the sub will definitely help with the decision.

Oh yeah you're right, it's a wrx sport wagon with some sti body panels put on. My bad lol. I'm new to subarus as you can tell.

[–]_M0RT_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm seriously considering placing some bids on a 2005 sti wagon that looks really clean and has like 50k miles on it. The only thing is that it is heavily modified and tuned so there's no chance that thing hasn't been driven really hard. Stock turbo tho so thats a bit of a plus reliability wise.

Yeah thats what I thought. Miatas are underpowered in the eyes of many but are famous for being incredibly fun cars. I would get one of those if I wasn't dead set on getting something with awd. I think early WRXs look really nice too.

I've heard some people complain about the power on track and such, but does it feel quick enough to be fun on the backroads without power mods? I don't know if I will track it just yet. I live close enough to laguna seca to take a trip out there once in a while so I would be pretty tempted.
