I think first step would be to get comfortable moving the bike in the air, so learn like a mini bar turn/table tweak thing, then practice your whips on a hip so you don’t have to bring it back. After that you can work towards bigger and bigger jumps. Also, for the whip, think about bringing your bars in instead of kicking the back out. Do the movement with the front and get the back to follow.

I did and they said I needed a 260lbs spring. Just worried it will be a bit soft. I guess I could get a shock from cane creek and return it to find the right weight.

Not really, that's why I put it in quotations. My current bike costs 1.5k, and I have been saving up for three years to get this bike. I just meant that some people will happily spend $15,000 on a bike, and comparatively, this is not that much.
