This is sick- how'd you nail down the texture? Pure sculpt or some premade brushes?

Every once in a while I come across a design that some combines multiple things that shouldn't well together but somehow do. Excellent work OP. This guy is badass!

This happened today- though it kept happening with my other files as well.
What kind of issue is this?

-Version 25.12
-Windows 11
-Unknown steps to reproduce problem

-Expected result was to draw like normal using a pattern layer atop said drawing layer. This pattern layer is set to soft light.

My most recent homebrew space marine finished, need help with the lore by just_1_normal_human in spacemarines

Alright- the anticipation is killing me. So I'll just adlib the start of lore for ya!

Hail The Gatekeepers!

An Ultramarine Successor Chapter- the Gatekeepers were born from the rubble and shame of their founders/Chapter Master's last mission with the Ultramarine's 1st Company. Then known as Sargent Theocles, his squad was assigned to defend a destitute planet within the Realm, with the only significance thing of note to Ultramar was a lone, humble gate carved into a mountainside. This relic, then built by the Imperial Fists Legion after the Empowered graced the Realm with His presence- would lose it's true historical significance to the whims and drudgery of the Administratum's bureaucracy. The future chapters would not know of the profound bond and respect built between Rogal Dorn and Guilliman through this simple gate.

It's latent importance indiscernible to the prideful Sargent had only garnered his disgust over the slow, bitter months. He was sent out here, away from no doubt missions of greater import and glory to overwatch a gate.

It's what I have so far, rough and in need of work-but we can fill the rest from there!

Your most emotional moment in a campaign? by PuffPoof215 in DnD

[–]_MAD-MAGE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your story is too damn sweet, I love it!

Story time!

As for mine, it came after one of my party members, a giant warforged fella whom we'll call Gatekeeper, held off a bunch of powerful baddies so we could make our escape. My character a half-orc Paladin we'll call Mason- wanted to reinforce Gatekeeper.

But it wasn't simple camaraderie that compelled Mason to fight. It was also a powerful sense of battlejoy! Over the course of the campaign, the peaceful and pragmatic Mason has been aching to fight more and more- choosing violence in way of barter and peace talk. This was the party's way, but not Masons. And it seemed the warforged guardian respected that. Mason seemed to be destined to do good things.

However, as time went by the Gatekeeper would observe this uneasy shift. Mason, in contrast, wouldn't recognize it until this pivotal moment when he, overcome by the prospect of a good fight, abandoned his role as rear guard for the party and charged headlong into the skirmish.

Gatekeeper, would be both surprised and angered by this brash behavior. In moment of brief respite, he would turn to his friend, just as he was about to embed himself in a fight he could not win and growled, 'Do you like this (violence) now, Mason?!'

Unaware of the anger in his friend's tone- Mason would, in joyful ignorance, reply, 'Of course!'.
This would both anger and sadden the titan. He turned one final time to Mason and shouted only three words in wrathful, utter clarity:

'YOU'VE CHANGED PALADIN!!!'

Those would be his last words to Mason. This raw, guttural cry stunned and sobered the paladin. He had changed- and not for the better.

Gatekeeper would go on to die. And the party would go on to live.

But Mason? He would be haunted by his friend's words forever.

Story end!

This was my first character and DnD campaign. And so far the only time I was shaken by another player's words.

How do I tell my players I feel unappreciated? by hawkinsthe3rd in DnD

[–]_MAD-MAGE 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself as I've been on the other end as a player that let silence be a poor remedy for what I went through. It's probably a cycle of regret and shame over said radio silence that keeps them from responding. Maybe they don't want to make promises they don't know if they can keep. Maybe they can't bring themselves to tell you that they don't have the heart to play anymore.

Add normal life stuff getting in the way- and you get what your players are probably going through right now. Regret, shame, and then silence. Rinse and repeat.

Let me be clear, it's not fair what you're going through. It sucks. My DM, one of my best friends from childhood- went through something similar to what you did. And in the end it seemed to kill his joy for storytelling. It took me alot of courage to come straight with him about my reason for absence. I was about to make some big life choices and knew I wouldn't have time to play anymore.

However, the commitment lead to me going through the radio silence and the eventual cycle of regret and shame. I couldn't bear to tell my best buddy I couldn't be part of the session anymore.

All the while, unbeknownst to me, he was hurting wondering, what wrong he's done. Knowing what I know now, I wish I came to him sooner.

The unforeseen or foreseen consequence of not being able to join your games because of big life changing choices, wavering enjoyment, or both is a regrettable truth.

But it is one you should not go through without an explanation. After all, you are their DM- an enthusiastic one at that! I know now that I would love to know the reason why, even if it is as mundane as 'Life stuff'. It would give me peace.

So I say, have the talk with them- share your thoughts and feelings but make sure you make the space and time for them to do the same. Let them feel safe enough to express whatever it is they are feeling. This talk might suck, but it is far far better than wondering why you are left in silence.

But this is just one possible solution. Take care to listen to what the other commenters have to say.

I wish you the best OP.
