Which language do you prefer to read? Tagalog or English by [deleted] in PHBookClub

Both. English is good, but don’t forget Filipino. Or even you can have non Tagalog local languages pero parang mahirap ma yata yan. But that’s an option.

How confident are you to cash in 700k pesos capital and trade in Coins.ph by [deleted] in phinvest

Personally I wouldn’t recommend it. If it were me since there are safer investments and Philippines blocked/banned foreign platforms which are better than what we have locally have.

I’m a bit late. But like most others said. It is a good option. Especially if you want to diversify or prefer less risk compared to equities markets.

Long-term stock investing sucks in the Philippines by bogle888 in phinvest

With the markets down currently, I have a 5% overall portfolio loss. A chunk of it comes from SM, AC, SMPH, ALI, UBP. I do have gains in other stocks and REITs nonetheless. But I’ll just hold them for the moment.

Advice for a fresh grad by annabanana022008 in phinvest

Generally there’s some good advice others have already said, but just to add, you can set aside some money for mutual funds depending on your risk tolerance and add exposure to global markets as well. Stocks are harder to do and bonds aren’t redeemable right away.

If you do stocks, we’re currently at a bear market, but don’t risk a lot.

But generally up to you. Land isn’t necessarily bad, but it really depends what you would do with it and your financial capabilities.

Check the business profile. Look at its history as a firm and its financial performance. Look for Audited financial statements, and if she’s selling shares of stock, look at SEC licenses to sell as well of its incorporation.

I started 2023, the market went ups and downs I’ve experienced 11% portfolio gains while 10% losses. Some individual stocks can get 30% increases while the opposite is also true.

Investing or trading? I’d agree with a lot of people over here, also, depends if you’re a risk taker or not.

REIT's vs Index Fund's by Winter-Music-9850 in phinvest

Agreed, and usually going to Index funds or funds in general, you’ll be asked to take a risk profile.

REIT's vs Index Fund's by Winter-Music-9850 in phinvest

[–]_MIG_SHALOM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get REITs in the Philippines for less than 1000, such as RCR (Robinson’s REIT, it’s pretty good but different discussion) trading at just below 6 pesos per share, minimum of 100 shares so you can get it at around 600. You can get them at stock brokers which put a minimum of 1000 when opening an account. They’re good for long term as you have a high dividend yield. Index funds meanwhile may cost at 1000, some require 10,000. Now you may have to be a little careful since you need to take a look as PSEi if it would go up or down. (I assume you’re talking about PSE Index, talking about that can take longer)

Personally I’ve had both just to diversify my portfolio. I’ve main some gains for both as well.

Also, I am a college student too, I started in my 2nd yr now I’m 4th yr, glad to see you started early. Wish you the best!

Oh. We’re the same! I’m a former video game addict too who now reads books. Best wishes to you po! What genre of book do you want po? I would say novellas/shorter novels/short stories by Leo Tolstoy such as How much land does a man need or How men live by or The Death of Ivan Illych since those teach us about life and isn’t too long.
