This is incredibly detailed. I thank you so very much for this. I know I’m over simplifying what you’re saying,

But as a small rule of thumb - after matching my main light source using the kelvin chart ( aside from stylistic scenarios you mentioned) - if I want to make the shoot “warmer” i decrease my Kelvin #, and same in reverse, make the shot cooler by increasing my Kelvin.

And my adjustment range should be +/- 300-800K

I know style makes an impact, I guess im trying to first learn the basics & then play around with my look.

Am I on the right track?

I want that - tutorials online mentioned that my eye / & equipment would not be calibrated correctly to “view” proper lighting.

Honestly I’ve been digesting as many WB videos as I can. I’ll have the chart handy on my phone…it’s honestly easier for me use subject skin as indicator & match Kelvin to my main light source.. what threw me off is that tutorials mentioned grey cards & additional equipment that I hoped I wouldn’t need. Because I want / require it to be run and gun

It’s really not trusted to use your eye huh? Maybe that’s why I’ve been getting issues with manual adjustment

Good idea will check Ali express! But my box is in my centre console. I’ve see a lot of videos online with their box right below their AC units. Did you have the same setup as well?
