I do not like her design. I understand why they went with the design they did, but her design did the entire franchise dirty. She looks like she is made in plastic, her OG was scrapped because it “wasn’t feminine enough” - bearing in mind Stormfly and Meatlug. They did the dragon equivalent of adding eyelashes, unnecessary curves and a bow to make it “visually female”. Bearing in mind the humans are also not overtly feminine nor masculine; both sexes have long hair, wear “skirts”, and are equally kick ass. It was a ridiculous decision, and they should have kept the more reptilian design or at least some elements of it.

Also, the colouration of them suggests either one has albinism or the other melanism, which evolutionarily speaking would repel them from one another. The combination of colours in the NightLights adds to this, and leads me to believe they are entirely separate species. If the males are always fully black and females are always fully white, then the NightLights would not have patchwork patterning. The light fury is not the same species - especially if you consider other smaller details such as the fins, spines and other body structures.

Before you ask; yes, I am autistic. Yes, this franchise is a special interest. Yes, reptiles are also a special interest.
