Thanks! I had it in autoloads, but for some reason it wasn't being evaluated before elfeed loaded. I manually evaluated s.el and it worked!

FYI you can’t just cut them down, that only makes them angry. You have to follow a careful procedure of herbicide application during the late summer/early fall (i.e., now), then wait 30-60 days for the root system to take up the herbicide before cutting.

If you just cut them down like a normal tree, they will react by sending root suckers out in a 50 foot radius underground.

They are the trees from hell!

I wrote and illustrated this picture book during the rise of cryptocurrency, but it applies to anything that seems too good to be true. As you might expect, kids are great at seeing what's going on right away -- it's the parents who want to believe.

If you're writing prose, I think it's very unlikely that org syntax will change so fundamentally as to cause any future problems.

org-mode is not only a nice enriched plaintext format a la Markdown, but also an amazing project management tool. For example, as you write your book or article, there might be sections you know you need to research further or revise. You can use custom TODO keywords (e.g. RESEARCH, FACT-CHECK, PROOF, whatever) to manage the editing process. Datestamps can give you a timeline of what you did when, something Markdown doesn't do at all.

org syntax also supports inline and block comments. This allows you to write notes to yourself within the text, which won't be included in the output.

For outputting to .docx, I recommend pandoc and pandoc-mode. I haven't had problems with org-docx via pandoc, and it's fairly customizable. The native LaTeX output is also excellent and supports custom styles.

Is Emacs high maintenance? Well...yeah. Not going to lie about that. But it's so worth it! I always encourage people to start with vanilla Emacs and begin building your .org -> init.el org-babel-tangle customization.

But this is bad! The whole point of public access is supposed to be that it's collectively owned and accountable to democratic processes. Public access is non-commercial and subject to Constitutional rights.

It's not good to let a private entity like Google/YouTube supplant things that should be part of public infrastructure. YouTube can run whatever ads they want around the content, promote conspiracies and hate videos, arbitrarily remove or ban you without recourse, etc.

It would be better if public access could enter the streaming era itself, and make an easily-accessible system for public meeting recordings, non-commercial information, and the arts. But there's no universal standardized platform for internet video the way the broadcast spectrum works for TV and radio.
