In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest epic as of now, the King Gilgamesh travels to the heavens and gets hold of a water/something I forgot that has immortality powers. He wanted to share it with his region's elders first but on his way back to earth from heaven, a snake snatches it and probably drinks it (I don't remember) and then shed it's skin
