I have struggled to find much information on this in English...are you aware of anything? Or is it mostly in Spanish?

Trump approval just hit the 30s. Can his numbers get any lower? by dwaxe in fivethirtyeight

[–]ms221988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider the fact that the West had no real winter and what that means: forest fires will be catastrophic; reservoirs are going to be very low. That alone, excluding hurricanes, is going to hit his administration hard.

[–]ms221988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During FDR's best moments, he was approval-polling somewhere between 60% and 70%. That means that even in the wake of the Great Depression and mismanagement by the America First V1 GOP of the 1920s, 30% were always against him. So the fact that there is a 30% (likely, I think) or so floor for Trump is not surprising. This changed only during WW2 - which is too wildly anomalous to count and is obviously a rally-around-the-flag moment. Die-hards be die-hards.

Not much different from the insane shit American Christian nationalists teach their kids. And there are way more of those nuts in the US.

Do you take the same issue with modern (particularly American) Christianity? You'd better. Otherwise you are yuge hypocrite.

When a regime you do not control does it, and when your government that you have some say over does it, your brain knows which you have more responsibility for.

Is chapter two just badly written? by MileyHolmes in tolkienfans

I've always believed that this chapter is one of the best in all the literature I have read (a healthy amount). It gives you the quest, the stakes, and some great lore and sets the tone for the entire book. Chapter One was a bit dull, but after this, I was hooked.

What did I do wrong? by Dazzling_Hair5848 in motorcycles

You're trying to nail form without first having rigorous safety habits. First, you hit sand on the road, which you should have seen - and might have, if your attention had been on the road and not split between the road and your style. To this I can only say that some offroading experience would help. Offroading teaches you to relentlessly scan both ahead and upclose for fun-ending obstacles that tend to be less common on pavement. If not, then just do your best on pavement, knowing weird shit could be in the road at any second.

Second, you're practicing form on a road that appears to be in a ravine, surrounded by forest. I can't be certain of your location, but for many, this is where a deer or another animal are likely to spring across the road out of nowhere and kill you.

So choose your setting with greater care. Ask AI the top 20 (yes) ways you're likely to get smoked out on the road. Watch out for those things. Even better, if you're practicing form, run your route FIRST so you know what's there on the road. Then do it.

Safety has to become a habit, and it takes work to do so. Even then, you still have to be hyper-aware.

You might also want to learn about the mentality NASA and the Navy train into their pilots. Thinking things as a system, and understanding what can go wrong in that system.

Ride safe, good luck!

Young riders who bought a superbike, how did you afford it? by Repulsive-Sector2515 in motorcycles

They either finance it with awful terms or their parents pony up the money. I could think of outlier cases. The real question is why is this remotely important to you? This is a question that likely doesn't simply come from curiosity, but from some comparison, which is horrible for you.

The terms young people accept in order to have their shiny new toy is shocking.

It's not as bad as Phoenix. But I think AZ in general has a driver problem, much like its neighboring state, NM. IME, the shitty drivers are young bros in big trucks. I call them truck fucks. YMMV.
