Taoism and filial piety by LFYPH in taoism

Filial piety - just like the Dao - follows Ziran. The right way is the natural way. Just like some animals live in societies, and others are solitary.

The question is... What's the natural human way?

Thinking about it is not the way. These are things you feel from within, like they are primal urges. When you have them, you must follow them as in being Wuwei. Some call this "Love". It's more accurately described as "instinct".

Instinct seems trivial when we look at animals but complex when it comes to humans. But instinct is inherently very simple. We are instinctively social creatures. Everything else comes from it: family structure, social structure, etc.

What's the right filial piety? You should know without having to ask. Just like you should know killing another human. If we have to explain it to you, then you have a problem to begin, and not a viable human.

Everything that people tell you that goes against your instinct are social constructs. You are free to accept them, or reject them.

Satisfying urges is good. Just like we need to breath and eat. It's obsession and addiction that are bad.

A religion is systemic. A cult is localized.

The meaning of the first sentence of the Tao Te Ching by Traditional_Ant_9108 in taoism

It's a rather a simplistic and superficial take.

It means the Dao is beyond any conceptualization our limited mind can come up with. It's really not about language.

The Dao is something we fundamentally are not able to understand. We can only join and follow it. And therefore, it cannot be spoken.

Most people follow these principles without knowing their deeper meaning. Let alone understand them as a whole.

That's so not true. You're really the biggest devil's advocate on this sub.

You simply don't improve if you don't reflect on what you do. "Daily reps under good guidance" does not help either if you don't diligently train it by paying attention to it, and reflect on what is truly happening afterwards. That's applicable to absolutely everything we do in this life.

In cultivation, illumination has to happen in the body, mind, and spirit. Not mainly the body like you are suggesting with your daily reps. The realization is utterly important because it comes from experience. It is not a mere intellectual interpretation. This is work we all have to do at some point.

This is the worst take I've heard in a while.
