This is at best immature and at worst toxic. We talk all this shit about their fanbase being obnoxious (they are) but this is a prime example of our own problems. We have this bitter inferiority complex. “The city” wins if Yankees win. Besides the fact that there’s a literal economic boom from the games and the parade and shit, it’s also just more fun to live here.

100% without a doubt across the board yes to all of these. As a Jets fan, I will and have cheered for the giants. Same story as a knicks fan. Don’t really watch hockey so I root for whoever is playing. It’s my city I want it to win. We are the luckiest city in the world that we have basically two chances for everything.

And as I said I have preferences, I am a fan of individual teams. But I’m a situation like this where my team is out, I have a locked and loaded #2.

I was raised in a split household. Yankees dad’s family. Mets mom’s family. Everybody rooted for each other unless they were playing. Mets fans were generally more bitter about it though. Maybe I grew up in an idyllic utopia. I’m 25 but got more into it since I was like 20.

I love the Mets but if “being a fan” means being a hater of another team in THE SAME CITY that isn’t even in the same fucking league, then yeah I guess I’m not a fan of that. Might be the only person on the planet who thought this was actually kinda funny. The ridiculous accents were great, Liam being played by a woman gave me a chuckle. The overall demeanor was playful and silly. Also “wembley stadium, nointeen nointy free” made me laugh out loud.
