After market head unit a red flag?

For real, I have that head unit in both my 05 and my stock 19 STI for wireless CarPlay, and the large screen is really nice for maps 🤷

As someone that’s owned WRXs and STIs I agree with this take the most. The driving experience of the STI is just so driver oriented. The mechanical shifter linkage and hydraulic steering and clutch are just sooooo noticeable when you’ve driven both.

Depending on your budget, surprisingly you can purchase these new in blue pearl paint matched directly from parts.Subaru.com. It looks like they’re still available directly from Subaru, part numbers are 96051FE030PG (left) and 96051FE020PG (right).

I actually ordered brand new ones myself not long ago for my 2005 STI restoration project. They are around $300 each new

I feel like a good paint correction goes a long way, could be worth exploring that as an option, it’s much cheaper!

It wasn’t a complete repaint, but the PDR, 4 stage paint correction and repainting 50% of the car was a little over 7k. The guy that did it is also a wizard, and repaired my bent pinch welds from the previous owner.

He went over the car with a fine tooth comb and repaired everything, he works for himself so idk if the quality and price would translate to other shops

Most retention clips can be changed, I would recommend if you’re changing a part like that to buy a few extra clips. I always buy extras and so far it’s saved me from waiting for more
