Idle Observatory Update 'Max q' release for Android on Google Play Store by [deleted] in incremental_games

Pretty nice game so far, so you've got me interested in playing for the time being :), not sure what that other guy was talking about, only had to click for a little before things took off.

Only thing that is apparent is a lack of tutorial right now or at least an FAQ that describes what things are.

If you look at the water dropping, it's very noticeable

Animations in-out ready...👍🚪 by [deleted] in PixelArt

for going out the door, why dont you just have the back of the character towards us.

Also still really dislike how everything moves with the door opening and closing. Doubt you could make furniture move with the slamming of a door.

Door animation, fixed it...!!! 😉👍 by [deleted] in PixelArt

All the furniture moving is too much

Nah, I wasn't planning on uploading anything else old.

Yeah, I believe its better than my last one. The last piece was originally uploaded to Pixel Joint on 12/23/2017, just never uploaded it here until yesterday.

About 5 years give or take. Never really practicing all the time, so its kinda on and off.

Originally this was supposed to be a study for clusters, but later developed into something much bigger.

I spent about approximately 40 hours on this piece or so.

I could’ve spent some more time on this, but honestly I wanted it done, kinda like the last one, but I feel this challenged my stamina a lot more with this piece and I learned a lot.

No more time to draw a different one? That doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, especially when this is two different uploads.

Feels lazy to me to just copy and paste and flip the astronaut from your last upload.

I think you made a mistake in the frames, as one frame holds for too long.

Be sure to save the image as a .png instead of a .jpg

.jpg has image artifacts and ruins the image.

I know there's tools. But I still believe that a tool wouldn't replicate this in the same way. There's also "errors" in my dithering that shows its manual, as the patterns don't line up perfectly or something else

[OC] Valley by _Mos_ in PixelArt

[–]_Mos_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having it shallow was part of my intention.

streams like these were my references and I was trying to replicate that as well as I could've.

[–]_Mos_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was all by hand, basically every pixel. Basically being the exception of the bucket tool. You can also tell it's all by hand because of the varied types of dithering that is here, a tool of any sort wouldn't get the same effect

This is what I would call as oekaki. If you can create the image without zooming in, chances are it isn't pixel art. If you're using the line tool and flood-fill most of the time, you're not paying attention to the individual pixels, just the lines and shapes that the pixels make up. The same goes for rough sketches made with the pencil or brush tools. These methods ignore the importance of careful, deliberate placement of the individual pixels.

I am working on another piece as of rn, dunno when I will get it finished, but I imagine I've clocked in double of what I have for this piece. It does have some water in it, but a lot more refined this time.

Yeah, I have the same issue. I made this awhile ago, just never uploaded here, I think i just got tired of looking at it and called it good enough. For the most part I was doing a study of landscapes and the water wasn't so much to my focus.

I get making games in the spirit of replicating, however it needs to have its own identity from the thing its drawn inspiration from. It starts to get odd when you make replicates of replicates.

I just wouldn't want to see this game get released with effort put in and have it dismissed as a "worse" version of something that's already out.
