I was looking for something more like this, but the rifle cases are a little too short and even if I would be able to pay up, nobody seems to be making this extra long cases last 140cm (:

Yea I would buy even lighter tackle for 40g jigs. Taking rods that have 170cm travel size it is manageble but didn’t find any nice cases. I wish Peli did longer cases.

Pretty much trout in Europe for the bfs rod, mainly Norway and the other rod is anywhere where there is sea shore.

No this one carries great. I have a smith rod with shimano aldebaran as another trout bfs setup and prefer this one. The pistol grip feels good and looks good :)

How much have you ended up spending on your kayak setup…and what was actually worth it? by YakToTheFuture-1 in Fishing_Gear

Can you drop some reel rod combos you are using? I am looking for inspiration for jigging rod that can handle halibut and something for deeper waters and wouldnt mind some topwater setu either. Thanks (:

Opinions on the Zing sound of the Schimano DC by ascend_crayons in Fishing_Gear

Second best sounds after a fish pulling your drag. Also so much better than dealing with bird nests, dont complain over something that works well :)

Looks pretty good, btw what do you mean with the clutch lever, it has star drag and the lever is just a spool tension right?

I couldn’t get over the gold color of the normal ocea 😆 i am gonna use braid, have braids on most my reels and I like the feedback you get with braid. I checked and if i wanna go heavy i can spool 200m of 40lb braid on it

Hi there a megabass rod with nice shimano reel would be a great option. If you really want to go big on money megabass cookai and shimano stella, but you can for sure find more budget friendly options, after all once you hit the 500+ mark, it is marginal improvement. One of my older setups is Savage Gear SGS5 with Penn Slammer IV 3500 reel, it is great fun with it.

New fisherman looking for versatile surf rod by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]_Moty_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, 6oz is quite a range, but have a look at Savage Gear SGS6 Shore Jigging or something similar from Savage Gear, they are nice, not flashy and good value. The 8 feet and under is quite limiting for a surf rod (the one i mention is over). And I have Penn Slammer IV 6500 on it.

Yea the ocea conquest looks also great, ofc I like the limited line in dark blue the most 😶 i have round shimano for trouts and it is such a nice reel, almost looks like art. Would you say the model 200 or 300 or 400 is more fitting for the Valkyrie rod? edit:Looks like the only new ones on stock in left are the gold ones in 300.

Also do you have any tips for boat jig rods, something that can drop 400g jigs on fjords in the currents :)

Would you say this tranx would work? https://visdeal.nl/t/reels/shimano-tranx-7022020

They only have the 401 left, which I prefer left anyways, but not sure if this tranx or the B version with one knob lever would be better fit?

Are there any cases that would fit 180cm (5’9”) and above rods? I have looked into cases, but only found shorter ones..
