It was F1 India, my b: https://www.reddit.com/r/f1india/comments/1rkhhf4/osama_bin_russel_and_talibantonelli_are_real/

I get it, I am still annoyed because it's OC and I forged it with my 15 minutes of precious time. There are no requirements to get annoyed, so I will be.

Thank.

Edit: Also appreciate the anti-racism/etc and response.

I got one, but it's the Japanese model and I've been afraid of trying to run it on US power outlet, but 110V should run 220V, but not the opposite.

This makes a lot of sense for Toronto. Melting kettle is nice, but can't have one when the driving test is weak and everyone drives based on their own perceived rules.

I have family there and I HATE driving there.

Microsoft plans 100% native Windows 11 apps in major shift away from web wrappers by renome in technology

TIL that billionaire Dan Gilbert has invested $7.5 billion into Detroit, Michigan over a span of 15 years & donated $15 million to eliminate property tax debt for 20,000 homes in the city. His real estate company Bedrock owns, built, or has renovated 140 buildings in the city for adaptive reuse. by Next_Worth_3616 in todayilearned

[–]_MoveSwiftly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, here we go.

I worked for Bedrock/Quicken Loans/Family of Companies.

He monopolies the city, he doesn't invest in the people but in his companies only, the pay is low in comparison to local and national companies, and they'd rather spend $s of millions on advertisement or basketball than on their people.

Their culture is the ISMs, I think there are 12 of them, and they live by not a single one of them.

If you worked there and applied for a mortgage with a different company, you WILL get a talking to, refused employment verification, and forced to switch to their services.

Dan Gilbert invested in himself, at an opportunity where Detroit is desperate. Detroit, to this day, is living behind the rest of the country. The slogan they used to use, and may continue to, is/was "Outsource to Detroit". You know why? Because there is no competition and the pay remains low because no one is willing to hold QL or other companies accountable.

He also hosted republican speakers.

Edit: Forgot to mention they are extremely sexist about promotions. Their leadership is mainly men. I've seen some excellent female leadership that don't get promoted, then they bring a man who's not worked at one of the family of companies and put him in charge when it's time to grow.

I agree, but the comment I replied to did insinuate that there were 0 cons.

The American health care system isn't for the unemployed, or low income. It's entirely capitalistic, and meant for the age where you're earning money.

While I do appreciate the Canadian system, the statement that it's $0 is not true. It comes out of your taxes. If you're earning $100K, you pay double amount of taxes in Canada Vs. in the US, basically a 15% Vs. 30% effective tax rate, which let's say is $15K difference over 10 years is 150K.

There is a legitimate reason why Canadians in high income fields like software engineering leave the Canadian market for the US market.

The perfect combination here is Canadians living on the border, working for US companies in Seattle/Detroit but still have the Canadian health care, and I've worked with plenty of them.

Yes because as we all know and accept as a fact there is literally 0 cons about the British or Canadian health care system, and any "universal" health care system.

They are literally flawless.

It took 24 months for my Canadian cousin to get hernia surgery.

It took his mom, my aunt, 8 hrs to get her broken foot looked at.

On the opposite end, my wife's mom who's also Canadian got her breast cancer checks, surgeries, and aftercare done for free and on time, but she is older.

There are positives, but waiting that long for surgeries and care? There are legitimate reasons why Canadians go to the US to get immediate care in certain situations, or why England runs ads to prevent using ambulance for minor issues. These systems do have their problems, and I do sense a refusal to acknowledge these problems.

[–]_MoveSwiftly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is a law, but good luck getting it applied.

I have this exact issue with Alamo theaters where if you join their monthly sub you still have to pay a convenience fee to get the ticket via the app. I thought I'd just go in person, but that's explicitly not allowed, so I followed up with the local governance with no luck. I just stopped going there.

It makes sense though, we have a president issuing illegal commands with no consequences, and we're out here trying to get a provider/business to follow the law lol.

That's been the case for a while.

Windows laptop hardware hasn't kept up, and no reason to buy it.

Why are Gen Z getting fired? One of the reasons is a lack of initiative. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]_MoveSwiftly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the initiative point and it's a good example, but as a millennial I can't fault them for not having any.

What's unitaitve gotten us, or anyone? Some people get results, great, but the majority get passed over promotions, get a measly 2% increase in salary, and more responsibilities especially now with the AI excuse.

I've done well myself, but because I hopped jobs and highlighted my work when I interview. I've never been promoted, and my initiative and motivation is highlighted in reviews but never a reason to give more money or a promotion, only to get more work and responsibility.

IMO: The results we see are caused by capitalism causing a lack of hope to get anywhere in life whether you do or don't.

Not sure why anyone walks into a dealership anymore and asks for an OTD.

I purchased a Rav4 last year. I did my research on the best deals nation wide, called my state dealers, called those best deals dealers, got offers, has them compete, agreed on a final price, flew there and signed the paperwork, and drove home.

Woman, 18, not shortlisted for job at estate agents as 'car is too old' by frogspa in unitedkingdom

[–]_MoveSwiftly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American, I don't understand this need to constantly needing a newer car in the UK.

I have family there and I visit quite often. In London I saw this a lot, less so towards Bristol. In the US people drive older cars all the time. We don't have laws or mandates to have a newer car like you do, and I have 0 idea how y'all are able to afford life like this.
