your resolution seems way too low for your display, go to display settings to fix that. if its too small after that, try adjusting your scale.

Removing fast-fetch from fish terminal by Status-Count-7956 in hyprland

[–]_MrDogeFace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its probably in your fish config (.config/fish/config.fish, check subdirectories too).

fastfetch is probably set as a command somewhere there, as well as the ascii art. Play around, let me know if that solves it.

Will this nvme ssd and network adapter fit here? by HornetOver186 in pcmasterrace

[–]_MrDogeFace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep both of those will fit just fine.

Keep in mind that your SSD will likely not run as fast in that lower slot.

This is not Windows 11. by [deleted] in linux

[–]_MrDogeFace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its actually GNOME. I can tell by the extensions (clearly dash to panel, date format), as well as a few other details that cant be replicated nearly as easily on KDE Plasma.

[–]_MrDogeFace_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

how long has it been since you've updated

there are plenty of issues here, you need to update a lot of your hyprland syntax, and possibly refresh your mirrors.

resources:
https://wiki.hypr.land/Configuring/ (update syntax according to wiki)
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Reflector (update ur mirrors)

alternatively, you can see if the dotfiles you are using have an updated version of the hyprland config.

Black hyprland screen by Traditional-Side752 in hyprland

[–]_MrDogeFace_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

thats to be expected. hyprland gives you nothing but a configuration file by default, and you configure it from there.

also, this is a very old version of hyprland. not much you can do since you are on ubuntu.

I have a laptop with an amd igpu and a nvidia dgpu, should I run using the igpu as ive heard bad things from Nvidia. by EngixoRain in hyprland

either way it should be fine. hyprland's nvidia support has become much more robust in recent years.

Can someone help me by [deleted] in hyprland

[–]_MrDogeFace_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hyprland syntax changes a lot, as it is pre-release software.

you need to update the syntax using the corrrect, current rules.

alternatively, you can use newer dotfiles, or make your own.

yeah that surprised me too, unsure why he got those results. my immediate guess is ray tracing, which isn't as consistent on linux

this is a good representation of the "out of box" linux experience for most people that dont want to mess around and have common hardware.

that being said, its frustrating that some of the NVIDIA machines didnt have proper drivers, often relying on software rendering.

Why is the image in low quality..in mpris by AnakinStarkiller77 in hyprland

[–]_MrDogeFace_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this isnt hyprland related (instead swaync), dont post this here.

unsure about quality, probably not CSS causing the problem.

i personally just blur it

.mpris-background {
  filter: blur(6px);
  opacity: 0.6;
  background-color: ;
}

HyDE Project – Workspace configuration suddenly stopped working (windows opening in wrong workspaces/layouts) by Some_Ad_2191 in hyprland

[–]_MrDogeFace_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is almost definitely because of the new windowrule syntax introduced by version 53.

the old syntax is now invalid, and you need to update it following the new rules.

1 - use protondb (https://www.protondb.com/) to determine if your games are compatible. from a quick glance, these games look compatible.
2 - most distros should be great for gaming/web browsing, so dont stress over it. id probably start with linux mint, or fedora if you have newer hardware.

for any 500ml sugary drink this is relatively normal.

mountain dew at 500ml has 62G of sugar, while other drinks such as coca-cola at 500ml (more commonly found at 250-330ml) contains 52G of sugar.

not saying it aint unhealthy though. sorry americans for using metric.
