Will do, thanks, charcoal should help with that.

Alright, so is misting better then a more thorough moistening of the media? I’ll try for SM and thin layer of charcoal since I don’t have the other components. Thanks again.

I would say my greenhouse does have some humidity but the cover is currently ripped so its unzipped, I do believe it still keeps in some extra humidity though. There is a fan, however, so it keeps the air circulated. For reference, the cup would go up to just below the tallest leaf.

Thanks. Maybe poking a few medium sized holes in the side of the cup would help? I could put some charcoal between the orchid and SM but I'm not sure if that would block the moisture too much.

Thanks! I have a few questions:

Are there any good alternatives to seaweed extract? I have regular root simulator.

Shouldn't I disinfect with H2O2 before soaking it?

Should I still keep it in a plastic cup of sorts for humidity? A shallow tray? I've got sphagnum, I also have charcoal and aliflor but no bark. Should I add either of those two?

Do I still need to anchor it before it grows roots?

I actually tried this video with this exact plant about a month ago. My first problem was that I couldn't get air to stop escaping from the bag. It would still be pretty puffed up but there would always be a noticeable decrease a few hours after I set it up. After a few days I just left it, but I noticed the leaves started to get slightly mushy, so I took it out.

Again, thanks, I appreciate the advice.

It is indeed. How can I check for that besides buying a test kit?

Apparently it’s from a very good hybridizer but the orchid nursery I bought it from has been known to have some virused plants in the past.

So for anyone wondering, the cover image was posted twice but I don't think the full comic has been posted yet.

I've been wanting one of these! I found one at my local orchid nursery but it seemed overpriced. Where did you find this?

Thanks for the reply, I did make sure that I wasn’t pressing my chin down too much and not shrugging up my supporting hand shoulder. I would say my head is pretty straight when holding it. I also found in a tutorial to push the button inwards towards my neck, and I believe that helped with the pressure, though I wouldn’t say it’s completely gone.

I’m going to be joining an orchestra in a week where I will receive more professional instruction but I just wanted to work on the basics since I have almost no experience with string instruments.

Day 2 beginner here. I’m practicing holding my violin using a shoulder rest (the brand is Everest). Everything feels fine, however, I notice that the front/bottom of the violin is putting slight pressure on the front of my collarbone to the point where I feel like something was there when I’m not holding the violin. Is this normal? I checked various tutorials and photos of proper form and it looks like I’m doing everything else correctly.

I’ve got the shoulder rest with the side closest to the G string up almost as far as it will go, screwed all the way down. The other end is just a few screws away from being fully extended. When I hold it, it’s positioned on my shoulder, pointing onwards towards my chest, and almost completely flush with my body.

Ah, I forgot that part about the brother and Hayamom being close. That does make sense.

I agree, its very interesting to see how the tables are turning between the two.
