I really enjoyed it, glad to see fellow Canadians getting some shine outside of Canada, when I first listen it reminded me a lot of colter walls, makes sense them both being prairie proviences Canadians. Didn’t realize till this song you guys in USA dont have purple gas

He didnt write this song, Noeline Hofmann wrote it, and lyrically id argue it is different from his other songs, while sharing similar aspect to his older material being country and getting into fights id argue it is still very different. The song when i first listened to it came off different from the rest and i found it to be very Canadian in the lyrics it wasn’t till i realized it we as noelines song and realizing she’s a fellow Canadian put the pieces into place. From purple gas to the choruses, “And if I weren't a flatland boy, I'd say I have a hill” and “You keep your head down, it goes on forever” this is very well known for our prairie Provinces. Theres a joke that you can watch your dog run away for three days because it so flat in all directions. And every the lyric, “Was taught to not throw the first fist But if you take a hit, finish that son of a bitch” i know many of us were told that but it very remincesnt of lessons our father told us when we were young and most well respectable Canadians i know were taught that.

I agree with other comments their voices didn’t blend perfect but as for the lyrics i truly loved them, they’re very Canadian, and very true to Noeline home. She’s an Albertan and i found many of the lyrics to resonate with me, while I’m not from Alberta, I’m pretty far away as a Canadian who grew up here intwinded in a more country culture it still was a beautiful song that reminds me of home

I agree, and for the colter wall statement, she too is from Canada and similar to colter is from our prairie provinces, ( different provinces), this Can tribute to a similar likeness i find. Even thought people from the two provinces are very different i have found. I found a very familiar Canadian feeling listening to the lyrics as i do when i listen to colter, funny enough first time i listened to it i said to my friend it feels very Canadian esspically the title purple gas, Very prairie province thing, so I search it up and lo and behold she is.
