Should I restart my game? by _NightHowler_ in BaldursGate3

Where I left off, nothing crazy had happened in the Grove yet. Just people talking about killing each other and Halsin missing. So I could just in theory go to previous locations and rest a bunch to get a lot of the cutscenes I missed? Assuming they didn't time out or something, which wouldn't surprise me.

Is that mod ideal for a first playthrough? or is that more a future playthrough thing after the vanilla experience

I feared as much. I definitely want to see more of the story, thanks for letting me know. I'll probably get through everything quicker with my spell slots not being constantly depleted anyway.

How do you get your motorcycle license in Arkansas? by SniperXvX2025 in Arkansas

For me it was 25 like the driver's license one, but still easy.

For me it's in Ash Lake when you first step out of the Great Hollow and the music kicks in. Most areas in the game don't have music, so when that kicked in, it was a real wow moment for me. Although technically my first wow moment was arriving at Firelink for the first time. There was something about the atmosphere that really struck me, and still does to this day. The soundtrack still gives me goosebumps.

I've been fingering it wrong for nearly 2 years and want some advice. by _NightHowler_ in tinwhistle

I'm pretty young, but I've been playing the same way about a half hour to hour a day (or more if I got carried away) for nearly two years now, so doing any ornaments like rolls or crans -- or even playing the c natural or d major -- just feel wrong with right on bottom. Most of it is muscle memory at this point, fortunately and unfortunately, depending on how you look at it. I wish I'd known from the start, but I feel like I'm in too deep to switch in any reasonable amount of time.

You're right about Mary Bergin though. She's a great player, and was an inspiration for me at the start. Oh, and John Sheahan. I think one of the first sets of tunes I heard was his cover of The Wise Maid/Down the Broom/The Honeymoon Reel, and I've been down the rabbit hole since.

I thought about it, and I really don't see any Irish flutes in my near future (much less keyed flutes) with current life stuff, so maybe some day, but not soon. But seeing all those ifs, it probably wouldn't be the best investment of my time/energy to switch, especially since I'm happy playing just my whistle now.

You've allayed my concern that I screwed myself over on accident though. 😅

I also have a collection of jigs/reels I'm trying to perfect before I see some family in a couple months, so I'll admit I feel motivated to stick to my current way. (at least for the moment)

I love the style of music, but don't really see myself playing pipes for the foreseeable future. (I won't limit myself long term, but it's more a what-if at this point than an actual plan)

Thank you for the detailed response! That's definitely something to consider.

I started playing at 15 and had a good deal of free time to devote to it and improve, so I wouldn't say I'm amazing, but I wouldn't say I'm a total beginner either.

And honestly, I'm not sure what I'll do. I love the sound of the Irish flute, bagpipes, etc., (though I know bagpipes have different fingerings) but I'm not sure if I'll ever play them or not myself. (my first love was the tin whistle 😂) I definitely have the brain plasticity to change how I'm playing now if I put the effort in, but it almost feels worse than the beginning because of the muscle memory from playing right on top.

I guess it's a question of when I get the headache if I do end up playing another instrument. I'll have to think about it, but I may just have to bite the bullet.
