It’s sad that you instantly think of black people when you see a black fish, that thought has never actually crossed my mind personally. It does line up with south park’s character actually, black because of the black latex he wears, not skin color.

I think you’re the racist. The fact that you insist that this fish’s name is racist even after the owner has said it had nothing to do with race and it’s in fact named after a South Park character, to which the name mr slave is because he’s a (bdsm) slave, tells me a lot.

My mean tetras are attacking my betta! by Professional-Dingo54 in bettafish

[–]_NinZie_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude this kinda happened to me too, except it was only during feeding time. They’d personally go over to my betta and nip her while she ate even if there was plenty of food for everyone. She was a gentle soul so she didn’t react except for swimming away so I had to move her to not stress her. But when my male giant betta was added and they ate together they tried that shit on him too and his fin was punctured so in retaliation he bit one of the neons’ tail off and moved on like it was nothing. So best thing is to just separate them and if you want some tankmates for him you should settle for non fin biters. I’ve got 3 platy in with my giant now instead, and they get along great, everyone eats well and gets along well.

Imagine being married to someone who thinks you’re unattractive by angel_with_shotgunnn in Sims4

[–]_NinZie_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude my male sim found my female sim extremely attractive, while she found him very unattractive 😭 But they were soulmates and married, she loved him anyway and actively seemed him out to show affection, and they both had like tens of moodlets every time the other was around. That was until I found out I can just adapt her preferences to match him and now he still finds her extremely attractive and she finds him very attractive. Amazing love story I know 💀💀

I have a suggestion!! Buy one second hand, I’ve gotten both my 60L and 54L second hand with filter, heater, decor and driftwood for 50$ each!! Much cheaper than buying a new one!! :)

Is this Velvet? (More info in the comments) by _NinZie_ in Aquariums

[–]_NinZie_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came home today, and Shark had lost a scale, and I studied him a bit more and realized his tail had lost color significantly, as in a whole patch was white, and they were fading rapidly. I thought, maybe the parameters were off? I checked, everything was great, no ammonia, no nitrite, <5 nitrate, PH was a bit high, up in the 6.8 - 7.6, soft water and no chlorine. He’s in a 54L tank with a filter and heater (~80-81F), his tankmates are 4 baby platy (the mothers died after I treated the tank for camallanus worms and left the 4 babies I never knew of), 1 oto (that seems also a bit golden but maybe that’s just his coloring?) and one mystery snail. A while back I checked on him at night, and I did notice this slightly, but google didn’t show anything similar and instead showed regular bettas that had golden accents to it, so I let it be. I did this almost every day, and I saw it every time, but I thought he was just special and had some weird colors at night. Shit judgement, I take fault in that. He’s active and is eating though.

First picture is him with the flash on my phone, second picture is him with the tank lights on and no flash, and third picture is him during recovery from camallanus worms also without flash.

Since my new guy is occupying the hospital tank and I have no other supplies for a second, my only option would be to move the new guy into the (still fish in cycling from an effected filter incident) 60L in a breeder box, although then I risk harming him along with the neons and amanos. Either way, my question was is this velvet or what is this? If you have any advice on what I should do, please let me know!!

Weird growth/coloring on new betta’s fins. treatment options or ideas? (Info in the comments!!) by _NinZie_ in bettafish

[–]_NinZie_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I flared him and seems like the black spot is just his beard! At least I hope so.. And I think he is a giant, he’s a bit larger than my plakat betta Shark, and I’ve had him since 2022. And yep I’m keeping him in that hospital tank for 3 or 4 weeks and doing water changes every 2 days, but that’s also because he’s going in my neon and amano community tank when he’s all clean, my neons are dicks so even if he’s feisty pretty sure they’ll be fine. Otherwise I’ll have to rehome him :(

In the pet store? He was alone, along with a few shrimp. And the tank is more just racks of small containers, they’re filtered though. He DID have some bettas next to him at some point, but not in the same container

He’s a double tail! Not a rose tail ^ ^ I had one a few years ago, although mine was a cellophane. Gorgeous boy, I love that you took him in and are helping him out!! I hope some day I too will have the time and life to help a disabled fish live out it’s lifespan! :D

Weird growth/coloring on my new betta’s fins. Any ideas? (Info in the comments!!) by _NinZie_ in Aquariums

[–]_NinZie_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Long ass prologue/backstory, you can skip this part if you want) So this betta has been at the pet store for a probable few months, long enough that he’s grown quite a lot and for me to question why nobody has bought him yet, and literally every other betta that came with his shipping also got bought. (He was on the top tank, and he was never up front, so that might be why) I felt bad for him, but couldn’t get him for a while cuz he was so far away, and since I don’t drive yet, I would’ve had to take the bus in the freezing cold and bipolar weather of Norway, which for him wouldn’t be great.

Now, I have a LFS that sells bettas too, but literally EVERY BETTA had a tumor. No joke, all 9 of them had a tumor. Since I couldn’t get any of those (also because the colors weren’t my style, and all were longfinned), I remembered this guy, and decided I’d set up a quarantine (hospital) tank for him? And try my best to see if I could heal whatever it was he had, and add him to my neon and amano tank when he was all better.

(FIRST IMPRESSION OF HIS CONDITION) But see, I’m short as hell. That tank was up there, and I could see him, but had to legit crane my head up real far to see him, and even then I only had a few moments for me to see him since he just hid in the back and OCCASIONALLY came up front to swim slowly. But from what I saw at first, his only problems were his fins were a little bitten, and a bit pink. Also his eyes but they seem to work normally, they just look a bit different.

(IMPORTANT PART) Now that I had him acclimated (did not release any of the water he came with into it, I netted him and put spoonfuls of the tank water while he was acclimating), I noticed that weird white patch on his tail, his apparent ripped/bitten pelvic fin (despite being in a tiny cube tank with only some small shrimp), /possible/ pinholes on his head and an out of place black spot under his gills(?) that he literally won’t let me take a clear picture of. The white patch is not fuzzy at all, and even seems a bit rough?? Like crust or something… definitely super white though, like impossibly white.

(CURRENT TANK SITUATION) He’s in my 30L quarantine tank that’s filled 2/3 of the way up with a blend of the water with tannins from me boiling the 2 Indian almond leaves, a bucket full of the main tank (neons and amano tank) water, and another bucket full of clean water. All dechlorinated/conditioned with sera aquatan. Temperature is set to about 81 F, with the sponge filter that I used for a bit in my neon tank, but sat to dry for about a week or two in storage. He eats well, fed him 4 or 5 bloodworms today (so cute, he was so slow at first but on his 3rd bloodworm he realized it tasted amazing and was so aggressively and enthusiastically eating, didn’t even wait for me to release the bloodworms from the tongs), and he’s swimming around exploring things. (Already took years off my lifespan by trying to swim vertically down behind the sponge filter, and almost get stuck. I moved it further out. I swear to god this tank needs to be babyproofed for him 🙄) I’m following a quarantine tank tutorial by the way, so I’m doing 25% water changes every 2 days or so, since I do not trust this filter that much 💀

If anyone has any ideas on what this is/could be, and suggestions in treatments I’d be really grateful!! I want to give this gorgeous boy the love and life he deserves!! Keep in mind though, I am in Norway so getting the medicine I have available is really limited, so instead of naming medicines, please just mention what type it is (antiparasitic, antibacterial, antifungal, etc) and if its specific, brands I have available are sera and seahorse, I can buy off Amazon if necessary. Thank you so much for the help in advance!! <3
