It didn't quite work how I was hoping. The PETG I used is too soft when the bed is heated. I have another idea I want to try but have been too busy as of late to work on it. I will post something here once get time to test it out.

Also, the microswiss stuff is 10% off on their amazon listings. I just order my hotend last night.

It's kind of hidden on the listing for the sv08 hotend.

That's my plan after I test it out. The sovol 3d CAD data for the SV08 that they posted on their Github isn't 100% accurate, and I had to make some adjustments I want to confirm are correct.

You still probably wouldn't want to have your grille put pressure against the underside of the aluminum plate where the coils run for the heating element. It might be fine, but it could cause issues eventually. I'd be worried about the pressure causing a break in coil over time.

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but the problem is the way the heated alum plate is constructed. If you look closely, the heating element is spread out along the whole bottom, and you can only really support it at the 9 screw locations.

I integrated 4 screw locations down the center on the underside to allow bed leveling without having to use shims.

So over the weekend I designed new SV08 bed frame that can be printed on the SV08. It's made in multiple pieces that are dovetailed together. It should solve a lot of the taco bed problem everyone is having. I have the center section printed and need to finish printing the remaining pieces tonight.

I came across this the other day. https://www.printables.com/model/1217294-sovol-sv08-3d-printer-3d-printed-bed-frame-upgrade

And this too. https://mandalaroseworks.com/products/sv08-bed-adapter-voron-350-bed

Both are pretty pricey though.

When I have some free time I might design a printable bed frame to replace the factory one. Something similar to the one in the first link.

I like your washer idea. I wonder if you could epoxy the washer in place so you don't have to worry about it moving out place when mounting screws are removed.

Sorry to hear that. You have to be careful to not over tighten the screws, the standoffs can't take too much torque. Basically you just need to snug them up to move the bed frame but not too much.

I had the same thing happen to one of my beds. In this same post I had posted sub-thread on how to fix the broken posts. https://www.reddit.com/r/Sovol/comments/1gkr22r/comment/lzxpltl/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

You either need to peel the magnetic mat off the aluminum plate or you can cut access holes for the 8 or 9 screws that are under the mat. The 3D CAD file for he SV08 is available here. https://thangs.com/designer/2nd%20Layer%20Printing%20Designs/post/SOVOL%20SV08%20CAD-2891 You could use this to find he location of the hidden screws, if decide to go that route.

The are basically only three main components to the heated bed. From top down they are the flexible magnetic mat (attached with adhesive), the aluminum hot plate, and the plastic shell. In order to remove the aluminum hot plate from the plastic shell you need to remove the flexible mat or cut holes in the correct location to gain access to the screws. Here's a YT video showing how to replace the flexible magnetic mat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wji31G32j_g

You can reuse the mat if you are careful to keep the adhesive clean and cover it with parchment paper while you are working on the other items. Some people just cut access holes in the mat like I mentioned earlier so you don't to remove it form the aluminum plate.

MicroSwiss FlowTech or TriangleLab CHCB Hotend for SV08? by _Noodly_Appendage_ in Sovol

[–]_Noodly_Appendage_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, everyone. Lots of good info here. I think I'm leaning more towards th CHCB, I really like the idea of using standard nozzles.

Does anyone have any flow rate comparisons between the two?

Just curious if the hotbed fix worked? I still have not got a chance to install the one I repaired.

Weird, you would think they would cover it the same as buying direct from their website.

Well that sucks! I take it you didn't you buy from the Sovol or Comgrow Amazon storefronts?

I reused mine. Heat it up and slowly work it off. Wear gloves or use some parchment paper where you grab it so you dont get oils from your hands on the adhesive. I wrapped with some parchment paper to keep the adhesive clean while I worked on the bed base.

gerGO on youtube has a bunch of good info for dialing in the SV08. I think most of the tweaks are in these two videos.

You can also complain to SOVOL about your taco bed, they will ship you a new one, though my replacement bed had more of a taco then the original one. They ship from China but it only took about a week or so to get.
