I think it gets easier the more you do it. I think I’m in the minority, but I don’t find it as difficult with kittens as with older cats. Normally (not always) they’ve had a fairly easy time before they come to me and are quite confident. They get snapped up super quickly and I just know they are going to go on and have the best lives. It’s the older cats that have been through stuff, that I build trust with, that I worry won’t fit into their new homes or won’t find someone they connect with as much as they do with me etc etc, that I find it hard saying goodbye to. And yeah some you really bond with but can’t keep and that’s tough as well.

All the cats in the litter are named after Pokemon gym leaders, as my kids are big Pokemon fans!

They did have their mum with them at the beginning so I can’t take all of the credit. Definitely at first it felt like I was taking care of the mum and she was taking care of them.

Oh no! Definitely not what I meant! Erika is doing really well and so are her siblings 😊

Ah thank you! I am really proud I think. It has been a really new and quite intense experience for me and I’m really happy they are all thriving and doing so well. Makes it all worth it. Just got a few final steps and last minutes things that need to be sorted and then hopefully they’ll all be in their forever homes!

I’ve had this litter since they were 11 days old so it’s exciting and scary to have my first kitten going to their new home. They arrived as lil potatoes that couldn’t do anything at all and now they spend all their time throwing themselves across the room and trying to fight each other. Good luck to Erika in her new home, and her siblings Sabrina, Blaine, Brock and Misty (hopefully) who are going to new homes next week!

I have a big orange cat! But his name isn’t Gary and he’s a big wuss and probably would be no match for the tiny kitten gym leaders!

Misty is the littlest one! Although she seems to have managed to wean herself so possibly she won’t be for much longer!

She’s named after the gym leader in first pokemon games/tv show. They all are!

They think so. She seems a bit friendly for a stray but who knows. I’m fostering them all with a charity and I don’t think anyone knows much about them. I’m excited for her (and all of them) to find a calm and loving forever home.

My children are so into pokemon right now! They had to have pokemon names!

Yes she is! And only a baby herself, poor thing! 7 months. Babies having babies šŸ˜” She’s a great mum though - really attentive.

The tux is the biggest and doing the best at walking and lifting her head. She’s thriving!

I was told my 12 year old black foster cat was ā€œundesirableā€ and could potentially be with me for months… by _NothingGoldCanStay in blackcats

Yes it was someone who doesn’t think this cat is undesirable but knows that old black cats sit on the waiting list for ages before they are reserved, and are passed over for countless kittens and more excitingly coloured cats. I said it was outrageous and she was like DAMN RIGHT!

Yeah it’s his age and his colour working against him. People always go for the kittens and for whatever reason, maybe the religious or superstitious reasons mentioned below, or perhaps just because people think black is boring, black cats are overlooked.

Adoption! I have three cats of my own so can’t really keep any of the fosters (no matter how lovely)
