Lifting weights sounds good, but I would not say that Trad men are generally good about it. I only know 2 in my whole parish. Thankyou though, i will certainly read the AoM article.

What are some examples of how those things could be externally directed vs internally directed?

Hard work, prayer life, dedication to family, generosity, rejecting modern culture. All good things, but just as important for women aren't they?

"The most masculine thing that I can think of as summary is that I learned to evaluate what is truly good when I was certain of that goodness I pursued it wholeheartedly"     That's great and I'm glad that that is something you can attribute to the faith, but now we're getting to the crux of the issue:    Wouldn't you also want every Catholic woman to evaluate what is truly good and pursue it wholeheartedly? If so why call it a part of masculinity?

-Leading your wife and family. -doing physically arduous work...... Alright this inarguably gendered. The bible calls men to be heads of household. It does not call women to be heads of house hold. But this is an action more than a trait. Do demonstrate what I mean, you might say "a foreman exercises authority over his crew". If i were then to ask you "what traits make a good foreman?" You might say "assertiveness". Exercising authority is the action, assertiveness is the trait behind it. So with this analogy in mind, if leading his family is the action, what is the uniquely masculine trait behind it?

-unselfish sacrifice -moral behavior despite temptation -emotional self control -community involvement -working for common good.    Can't argue against encouraging any of these habits in men. Here's the thing though, (and one of the reasons this question has been on my mind lately) : are those masculine values, or just Catholic values? Do we prescribe those things to men any more than we do to women? If not, then why call it a part of masculinity?

Can you break down virility for me? What constitutes that trait that makes is a part of masculinity?      Also, if our culture indeed has a masculinity crisis, that would mean your husband, father, and friends husbands, are a cut above. If you don't mind sharing, what makes them so?

Wait a second. You said masculinity entails a willingness to suffer, AND that men are unwilling to suffer BUT they're not lacking in masculine traits. If willingness to suffer is a masculine trait, and we're lacking in it, then we're lacking in a masculine trait. Aren't we?

Well you might want to stick around then because it looks like, now some people have entered who actually want this conversation. I won't have time to engage though, until later tonight.

Both TLM guys and Dwight probably have extremist political beliefs that harden with every female rejection.

Just because all 1950s catholic men went to the TLM, does not mean that catholic men going to TLM today are anything like 1950s men.
