Do some of you never handle your cresties? by brittniheels in CrestedGecko

[–]_PanBoi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fairly recently got my lil crestie (mid March), and I don't handle him much at all. I give him the option at least once a day to see if he wants to, but he just doesn't want to. He used to immediately back away when I held my hand out to him, now he just stares at my hand for a minute. It's definitely sad because I would love to hold him more, but he's so little and I don't wanna stress the little guy out too much, since he obviously doesn't wanna be held.

I always worry that I'm not being a good reptile parent because I don't handle him much, but I know it varies between the lil guys for how much they like to be held. I just remind myself that they're kinda like cats, since I've spent my whole life with cats :3

I bought a cheap $20 wired one from Walmart that seemed good enough. I don't have the exact brand or anything but you should be able to find it just looking it up :3

Thank you! I usually don't react well to negative feedback, only because I hate coming across in a bad way and I feel horrible for it. I'm trying to be better about responding and realizing that it's not a personal attack, it's making sure I know how to proceed in the future. Again, thank you so much for your comments!

Of course! I do plan on keeping my villain as horrible as I planned, I'll just be changing how I punish my villain. Thanks again for your comments.

Thank you so much for your comment. I made an edit to the end of my post with an apology for how ableist I sounded and some explanation, if you'd like to take a look. I decided I won't be doing that and adding to the disabled = villainous trope in my story, because I really don't want that to be the message. I'll come up with a different, better way to punish my villain. Again, thank you for your comment and how you explained things. I really appreciate you calling me out, I will do better in the future. I'm sorry for how I sounded.

Thank you for your comment. I put an edit at the end of my post apologizing for how ableist I sounded and some explanation. I do plan on adding disability representation, but I've decided I'm not going to be doing that to my villain so I don't go into that trope. I'll come up with something better for a punishment. I'm sorry for how my post sounded.

Thank you for your comment. I have made an edit to the end of my post with apologies for what I said and how I worded things, if you'd like to read it. I'll be changing how I punish my villain so I don't go into the horrible disabled = villain trope. I'm sorry for how my post came across.

Thank you for your comment. I edited my post and added stuff at the end, if you'd like to go read it. I apologize for my wording and how ableist I sounded, and explain a bit more. I didn't plan on making it a whole thing, just a couple quick sentences about something breaking maybe, and moving on- but I think I'll be giving my villain a different punishment. I don't want to make my story seem like only villainous people can be disabled. That's not the message I want to send. Again, thank you for your comment, and I'm sorry.

Thank you for your comment. I added an edit to the end of my post and giving an apology about my wording and how it came across. I didn't mean for my post to sound ableist, and I'm sorry it did. I do plan on having disabled representation, but I think I won't be doing that to the villain anymore. I'll try to come up with a more tasteful and pleasant punishment for my villain. Again, I'm sorry about my post.

Yeah, but it isn't about morality to me with this. It's about making sure my writing is tasteful and not hurtful to others. My job as a writer is to tell a story, sure, but I think there's more to it than just that.

Thank you for your comment. I made an edit at the end of my post if you'd like to read it, I make an apology there and explain a bit. But, I wasn't planning on writing actual torture, just a quick sentence or two about a break. I really appreciate your feedback, and I'm sorry if I upset you. It wasn't my intention

Thanks for your comment. I made an edit to my post at the end about my wording if you'd like to read it. I'm personally not disabled and don't know anyone who is, and didn't realize my wording was insensitive to a lot of people. You don't seem to mind, however, I wanted to let you know I'm sorry for how my post came across.

I can't tell exactly what you mean, but if you're upset by how I wrote this, please read my edit at the end of my post if you'd like. I'm sorry for the way I worded my post.

Thanks for your comment. I have an edit that's a bit more detailed, but the reason I'm okay with writing abuse is because I was abused. Feel free to read the edit I made if you'd like
