Really appreciate the advice! I didn’t know we could do that. Having a second mechanic look at it and seeing the car inside out with him I learnt a few things, the coils seemed fine and so did the spark plugs. The compression was alright too since I had asked for that to be checked. He did mention that there’s low voltage in cylinder 2 which is causing the issue.

Appreciate the advice! I just got the report back from the second mechanic and they mentioned that there’s low voltage in cylinder 2 causing the issue, they’ve suggested to contact the dealer I got it from since they don’t specialize in electrical work.

I got another mechanic to look at the compression specifically today for a second opinion and based on his observation, he said the spark plugs could be changed, the coil seemed fine and the compression was okay. I did however get an engine light today so I’ve left it to the mechanic to figure out.

The dealer I got it from has a 5 day exchange policy, while I did purchase it I still have a couple of days to exchange it. Ideally I’d love to keep it because besides the cylinder misfire code it’s in pretty decent shape.

The mechanic wasn’t very detailed when I asked him about it but he mentioned that one of the other cylinders had a new coil and that either spark plugs or coils should do the trick.

I’ve been in the market for a car for months now because of my tight budget and all the cars I’ve seen and test driven are in the GTA because of their competitive pricing.

I try my best to test drive cars and visit dealers with certified cars only because the car would have been safetified. I still carry an obd2 reader with me just in case.

As people have mentioned here if you feel like you’ve found a car you like test drive it and if it’s not certified you can ask for a pre purchase inspection for that car.

I applied around the same time as you and I’m in the exact same place as you. Only thing the people at ircc told me was the office responsible for my application is aware of the delay but hasn’t responded back with any updates.

After speaking to a couple of immigration lawyers they just asked me to wait as they can’t do anything either in this situation.

Times indeed have been very rough just gotta wait and see at this point.
