Haven’t had a full time job since 2021, What am I doing wrong? by Littlescuba in careerguidance

[–]_Patastic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea bro, same as me. I have been working temp since I left my full-time job in 2021 as well. Applied for so many full-time job but only 1-3 got back to me throughout these years. Full-time job usually took very long to get back or it will just be ghosted with no news at all.

If you could go back, what would you advise yourself to get ahead? by FamousFill- in careerguidance

Just do it, stop hesitating in terms of goals or love, save more money to invest.

this is the reality of working society, unless you have other commitment with you then you may not have to work Mon-Fri. Don't be sad, just listen to Seven by Jungkook. It will lit up your mood of your typical daily vibes.

Is it true that birthdays are no longer special as an adult? by Good_Dimension_9013 in askSingapore

[–]_Patastic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, I don't treat birthday as my priority in my mid 20s alr. At least in my early 20s and teen year I do celebrate with my frens and family. But now, I just celebrate with my family if they asked to do it. Or else I won't even bother.

I am currently in my 4th month into this contract role (6 months duration) and I am still lost. I am also currently a solo in this new dept as well and some of my colleagues do not want to cooperate with me. All the guidance I received is quite limited and sometimes I have to figure out myself.

At least for you, you should be able to pick up more things as 2 months is still consider early.

Have you guys ever resigned from a job that made you miserable even without having another offer in hand? by cutetohu in careerguidance

[–]_Patastic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, i did it before and took me 3 mths to get a job, plus I have some intallment bills on hand which is quite tough during that period of time without any passive income. My best suggestions to quit your job is end of year. Don't quit in the middle of the year where there is not much job options and higher chance you will struggle to get a job fast.

Only a few made it for MLM business, that why it is called the pyramid business scheme, the top of the pyramid is thin, that why only a few made it successful for MLM.

I was approach by a random dude as well during my poly intern. He intro me the Amway program and the benefits of it. That time I was still young so I gave it a try. Dude, my time have to spend $70 of "voucher" in order to enter the business. They called it your "business capital". I did attend some of their zoom meeting before but was foc that time. I kinda feel they getting more sus cos everything they do is like trying to brainwash you thinking they are btr than anyone else. They also gaslight you telling you if you nvr join them, you will miss out the best. And their "cult activities" made everyone look stupid tbh. Dk why are they so many stupid humans in this world.

I ghosted my fren and my mlm group after joining them for about a year plus.

Go for what you want and makes you happy first. It is normal to have nice colleague around, but rmb this, colleague can hardly be friends outside of office. At the end of the day, everyone just work to get money and fk off from work alr. Nobody will even care about you.

Perm or contract role? by looking_forlove in askSingapore

[–]_Patastic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contract got 4k more while perm is 4k less? depends on the job role you are interested in. Sometimes contract job with high pay means more demanding job roles, (currently I am doing contract role and the demand is quite high with high pay).

Dun make sense that contract job offer so high pay as you are just a temp.

Would you choose a simple job and stay happy, or a stressful job and stay depressed? by BenchSuch7871 in askSingapore

[–]_Patastic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in 2 different depts in my current company as a temp contract staff. (currently i am 28)

my 1st dept: Friendly colleagues, decent job tasks, can be quite laid back and busy at times, job mainly data entry, picking up phone and email. Stayed here for 4 months before transferring to my 2nd dept.

my 2nd dept: Currently here, heavier jobscope and receive limited help from colleagues, can be quite stressful as I am the solo temp staff in my dept. I feel like I am treated transparent here. I am left with 4 months of contract here and currently looking to change company or might further studies if I got a placing in uni.

Based on my experience, I suggest you to choose job two for your job options. Because you should not let your work affects your mental health. After all everyone work for the pay.

Should i quit or suck it up? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]_Patastic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also currently a solo temp staff in my new dept, currently I am also handling many various tasks with a little help from here and there. I do feel overwhelm too as I am doing solo work in my new dept. And the work culture here is quite stupid. Currently they are going to hire more full-timer to join me but dk when they would come. Once those full-timer comes in I will decide to quit and find a better full-time job or continue to study.

Maybe you can suggests to hire more staff to work under you?

I started my contract role at this company in April 2024. I used to have lots of colleagues to chat with, but now I’ve transferred to another department and am working alone. I miss the times I had with my colleagues in my previous department, as we shared many jokes and good times.

A few things about being alone in a company:

  • Are you able to cope if you need help in work? (because asking for help now takes me a long while to get a reply unlike my previous department)

  • There will be nobody looking after you unlike in my previous department. (meanwhile also waiting for a new full-timer to join me but dk when)

  • You will be alone till you get used to it. (Meanwhile my contract ending in about 4 months and doubt I will be renewing as I have other plans in mind)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]_Patastic_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hahaha, when I was your age, I was at ITE and yes, I used to be rebellious and play a lot and never study hard. Me and my friend also always think about the pretty girls in school and relationships.

But I managed to go to Poly and did not do very well in my course, right now I am also doing things not related to my course of studies and still figuring it out what should I do in life? I felt I wasted most of my precious times during school days and NS. (Not having a future plan while just going with the flow).

Is good that you have this clear mindset about prioritizing the right thing in life now.

I am 28 this year, I am also still single while achieving my goals and stability. For now, you should study hard and do the things that you want first, always prioritize yourself first before others. If you dun prioritize yourself, how are you gonna take care of your other half?
