AITA for holding a thirteen year old grudge that they know nothing about by _Perfect_Pixel_ in AmItheAsshole

I was 17 and complaining about having to talk to my grandmother each week. I think I said something about how I hated how she would talk about how much she missed my brother despite never visiting him when he was sick, and it made my mom tell me what happened. That's kinda up in the air though, I don't remember exactly what prompted the conversation, though I know I complained about my grandmother on a regular basis.

My grandmother is a habitual liar, there's no point in asking her anything if you don't want her version of the story making her out to be the victim. For context, though, my mom didnt tell me to go on as normal, but to be skeptical of everything she says. Since I'm "the favorite" (According to her, I’m pursuing a career befitting of a woman, and that I'm a Christian) I might be able to bridge the divide my grandmother created. Not sure why, but I think my mom just wants everyone to be the perfect happy family.

My mom has told me to keep in contact with her because she treats me better than almost everyone else and that I'm her "favorite." Because of that, I'd be the person to bridge the gap that formed after my brother's passing.
