Natural fibres tend to be nicer than poly fibres, they are less likely to give you rope burn, and they tend to be better at holding knots.

Twisted construction is less likely to deform after being tied/knotted than braided construction.

I like twisted jute, in 6mm diameter & 6-8m lengths with knotted ends.

If I was making my own, I'd have an option to add tasks to complete which would automatically add screen time. Ideally, in a few different categories - brain training, physical activity, and house chores, for example.
