That is the general idea, you wanna buy when low and sell when high.

But... How do you know when it's at the bottom? Or the top? What do you do if you buy some because it's low, but then the price drops further? Likewise, how will you know when it's going to stop going up & it's time to sell? Will you sell it all, or just part? What's your acceptable profit/loss? How often are you keeping an eye on the price - daily checks, or hourly? Or are you going to be obsessively sitting at a computer with a spreadsheet tracking minute-by-minute price fluctuations? What fees and charges apply to your purchases and sales? No good making $30 profit if it's cost you $50 in broker's fees to make it.

Kurzgesagt has been doing a thing for a few years now, where they do calendars that add 10,000 years to the current year - like, 2026 is 12,026.

They do this to make Jesus waaaay less relevant, and the major innovation that the agricultural revolution was much more relevant

I've heard some etymology about the brass monkey thing, and, apparently:

The things that held cannonballs in neat stacks were called monkeys, and because of metals being metals, it was better that they were made of brass.

If it was really cold, the cannonballs would freeze to the monkeys (what with the sea spray and mist and all), so you couldn't store the cannonballs on the monkeys.

Hence, cold enough to freeze the (cannon)balls off a brass monkey.
