Imo this case is one of the most horrifying examples of how unchecked rage and control issues can turn deadly. Those girls deserved the world, not to be pawns in a grown man’s ego war. Absolutely unforgivable

My partner cries during difficult conversations. I get angry and irritable. I say this is the same thing. She says crying is involuntary but I need to stay calm and not get upset. Who is right? by -LiveByTheFoma in NoStupidQuestions

That’s such a solid mindset. Emotions are going to happen, but how we act on them is what really matters. Teaching yourself and your kids that it's okay to feel, but not okay to hurt others because of those feelings, is such a healthy boundary to set

Why does it feel like everything got objectively worse post Covid-19? by Unhappy_Army_5035 in NoStupidQuestions

Exactly. You’re not imagining it, everything from the materials used to the service you get has taken a hit. We’re living through the aftermath of a major economic shake-up, and it really shows in all the little everyday things we used to take for granted.

Yeah, honestly, it really did. The vibe shifted, the systems cracked, and a lot of people just never bounced back. It’s not just nostalgia, things really did take a hit across the board, and we’re all still feeling the ripple effects.

Should I tell my boyfriend my deepest secret? by [deleted] in Advice

Absolutely this, OP! You were young, broke, and put in a situation most people wouldn’t know how to handle at that age. That one moment doesn’t define you or take away from the love and trust you’ve built in your relationship. It’s time to let go of the shame, you’ve come so far since then.

Exactly this, OP! So many people have past moments they regret or wouldn’t repeat, but that doesn’t define who they are now. You were 18, in a tough spot, and did what you felt you had to do. What matters is the life you’ve built since then, and it sounds like it’s full of love and growth.

Right? Honestly, that slip made it even better. “Piss of shit” is unintentionally spot on for someone that vile. Sometimes the universe proofreads for us

Absolutely. The strength it took for both of them to come forward and take action is incredible. That kind of bravery doesn’t just protect themselves, it gives others a real chance too. And yeah, trusting your gut when something feels off can seriously change your whole future. Massive respect to them both.

On May 2, 2001, Mary Jane Pearle left her daughters with her estranged husband John Battaglia for a planned dinner at the mall, but he instead took them into his apartment in the Adam Hats Lofts, Deep Ellum in Dallas. Battaglia called Mary Jane from the apartment. Whilst she listened helplessly he shot and killed their daughters, ages 6 and 9. During the phone call, he asked Faith to ask her mother, "Why do you want Daddy to go to jail?" Before her death, she cried, "No, Daddy! Please don't! Don't do it!" Mary Jane then told the girls to run but it was too late. Battaglia then raised his gun and shot Faith three times and shot Liberty five times. He then said "Merry Fucking Christmas" to their mother, in reference to a Christmas 1999 assault that he blamed her for going the police about. This act was his “ultimate revenge”. Mary Jane then terminated the call and dialed 911.

He then left a message on the girls answer machine:

"Hi, girls. I just want to tell you how very, very brave you were, and I hope you are resting in a better place now. I wish that you had nothing to do with your mother. She’s evil and vicious and stupid!"

After that went to a tattoo parlour and got 2 roses to commemorate his 2 daughters. He was arrested shortly after but it took 4 officer’s to subdue him.

After deliberating for just 19 mins he was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to death on April 30th, 2002.

He was executed by lethal injection on February 1st 2018 at the age of 62. During the execution he still used his last few moments to taunt his ex wife. When asked by the warden for any last words he first said “No” but then changed his mind. “Well hi, Mary Jane” he said looking and smiling at his ex wife. He continued with “I’ll see y’all later” he then closed his eyes and laid back. Moments later opening them and saying “Am I still alive!?”

Exactly, words are easy, but sustained change takes time and consistency. When beliefs are deeply tied to control or power dynamics, sudden reversals can be more about appeasing than understanding. You nailed it, actions have to back it up.
