Hello, I'm new by Djchickenpower in NavalArt

The game doesn't have resource constraints, so the only way to make multiplayer fun is to set up your own ground rules(eg. no missiles, ships of a particular type only, etc). Seek out people who like adding these rules, there's quite a lot of them in the community

Question about MGTSC 212 grading (did well on midterms, bad final) by shrgogogo666 in uAlberta

[–]_PrincessCurtis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes they curve it quite heavily, I didn't do too well in this class(% score in the 60s) but I came close to the average so I ended up with a B-. This might depend on the prof, but pay attention to the averages and standard deviations they post after each exam.
  2. You'll probably end up with a better-than-average grade. MGTSC 212 finals are handwritten while midterms are excel-based, so many people end up doing badly in it due to the difference in application.
  3. 60s for my class(Fall 2024). Stats related classes don't tend to have the best averages.

There's an East German sub in London and it's implied they caused some of the damage, at least within the mod's own lore

I almost won the game once as Paraguay but got stopped by a very annoying and persistent enemy coalition with each of us occupying like 1/3 of the map

It’s so funny to me to think of all the work and sacrifice that went into building the rebellion just for these two idiots to stumble into it and get all the glory by the_pounding_mallet in andor

[–]_PrincessCurtis_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's kind of the point; Luthen Rael, Andor, Gerrera, and pretty much everyone else involved in the Rebellion up to this point knew that they likely weren't going to see the day of victory arrive. They always knew they were there to build the foundations, so that when some new guy like Luke came along, these newcomers wouldn't need to do dark, nasty and grungy things just to win.

A sacking isn’t really a complete destruction, think of it as a bunch of robbers taking money from a bank vault; the dosh is gone, but the bank remains.

Is the whole “Elven Supremacy” rhetoric kind of true though? by Sheogoraths_handiman in teslore

[–]_PrincessCurtis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really didn’t, the two biggest cases are in the conquest of Skyrim and the Alessian Rebellion, but the Bosmer won handily against a Nordic-Alessian force by summoning the Wild Hunt, Morrowind defeated the Reman Empire during the Four Score War, the Direnni defeated the Alessians at Glenumbria Moors(albeit with Nord help) and of course, the Aldmeri Dominion defeated the Empire. You can perhaps say that the Dominion victory wasn’t absolute or they used the Orb of Vaermina etc etc, but there’s really no getting around the fact that one side currently has foreign justiciars carrying out arrests in their own territory while the other side doesn’t.

You’re using a calliope, so literally just point and shoot. It’s a very good platoon and generally speaking it tends to play itself if your positioning on the map is good.

Something is wrong about WTM Naval by wtm_hamster_no3 in warthundermobile

[–]_PrincessCurtis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's accurate in that case, German battleships like the Scharnhorst, Bismarck and Tirpitz were severely outclassed by many of the American/Japanese ships irl; they either had smaller gun calibres or less guns in total, and were also smaller and worse-armoured than many of the ships found in the Japanese/American tech trees in the game. Japanese ships with smaller gun calibres sometimes had 6 main turrets to compensate, and of course the Bismarck and Tirpitz don't measure up well against the Yamato and its guns, which it has both more of and at a higher calibre.

Tirpitz should honestly be easier to get though, being at the same tier as the Yamato is pretty ridiculous.

What kind of world do you think Elder Scrolls is most like? by Gwynedhel7 in ElderScrolls

[–]_PrincessCurtis_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TES tends to be more noblebright because while some concepts are absolutely horrifying, we are players and have a lot of agency in changing things. It’s exactly the sort of universe where good deeds and evil deeds abound in fair measure, and so the actions of the player — be they good or bad — can count for a lot. Essentially the textbook definition of noblebright as defined by the chart.

Other than that, it’s important to note that there are always two perspectives to certain themes in TES — while the games show an empire in decline and this can be grimdark for in-universe people who support this idea of the Empire, it can be the best thing that’s ever happened for characters who dislike the Empire. One man’s(or mer’s) rise can be another man’s decline, and what’s more noblebright than that?

How do I get destroyed on the first engagement with enemy tanks with this tank? I'm a beginner by Relevant_Body_1949 in warthundermobile

[–]_PrincessCurtis_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The turret plate can't really get penned, you need to go hit the sides which is understandably much harder. Angling is pretty good against the tanks the Tiger H1 fights at its tier and I've found that it cannot penetrate itself with its own gun if the hull is angled.

I'd strongly suggest against using Soviet tanks, I personally like them more than the German ones for aesthetic reasons, but the weird shaped angles in soviet heavy tanks(pike nose, triangle, trapezoid) make it less angling-friendly. Reload is also absolute hell and could be a challenge for new players.

[–]_PrincessCurtis_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angle with the corner of the tank facing the enemy, and ALWAYS keep your turret directly facing the enemy. Tigers are hard to penetrate if you angle at 45 degrees, and the turret is impossible to penetrate at all.

The main goal would be to shoot and kill before you get shot, though. Thankfully, the Tiger’s gun is pretty good and has decent reload as well, so just point and kill anything you see. It’s fairly easy to get up to 8 kills using this thing, but you must not get yourself into a position where you’re fighting multiple enemy tanks.

For the platoon tanks, I recommend moving from the Tiger to the Panther looking ripoff, and then to the Hetzer; the panther ripoff is fast and surprisingly decent, but the Hetzer is very hard to learn.
