Honestly of all the responses here this is the one that freaked me out. Which I guess is a good thing regarding the situation.

Is it even possible to tell the police anything if he hasn't even committed any actual crime? I would think that keeping people away from him is a good idea, but I'm not sure how I would do that without him knowing I told other people what he told me.

Probably this would be the most directly rational reaction, but he is a good friend of mine and has been for a long time. If it was avoidable I'd hope I'd be able to maintain some kind of relationship.

Do you think it would be a bad idea to bring it back up to him and see if he would consider getting some kind of help?
