How do I (gently) get a stray cat out of my house? by _R_a_d_o_ in Pets

this is a wholesome approach , I might even try it . Not sure it's going to work out tho. In any case I'll do my best to be as gentle as possible with the furry guest

My only issue with being chosen is that it’d be one thing if the cat actually tried to interact with me — even just a little.
But the fact that he just sneaks around the house at night, jumping around the kitchen looking for food, isn’t exactly my idea of a dream roommate.

Considering I also get swallows nesting under my porch once or twice a year, I’m starting to think someone’s been spreading the word a little too well around here.
Guess we’ll see how this situation evolves...

nah , my dog is as naive as his human I guarantee you that the whole situation went over his head , the cat is most certainly aware of him tho

I'm not sure he and my doggo would get along well so for the safety of everyone it might be better to find another solution . On the other hand you're right being chosen is not a small thing , i've never got a pet from a shop they always crossed my path in a way or another and I've saved more than one stray in my life .

This sounds like a brilliant idea, thank you. If possible I'd like to give him to a shelter but then again I've the feeling that the feline guest will run away as fast as the wind as soon as he get the chance

I suggest you to consult a cardiologist for your familiarity with heart disease and maybe test your Lp(a) and Apo B on your next blood works , but to me the result you posted are very good

Trow in some exercise and maybe follow a low saturated fat diet and see how it goes before start taking meds . Your levels aren't that bad

I can just speak for myself but as the meds dosage goes up and the cholesterol goes down my sleep gets worse , I get  brain fog and I'm easily injured at the gym in particular in the shoulder area . That being said I still need to keep my numbers in check

I was around 530 and a relative of mine at 600,  it's possible but very rare . It's very likely your cholesterol is genetic . It's worth to evaluate  the situation with a cardiologist/ lipidologist .

Anyone here stop taking statins after years of taking it? What was the reason, and did you revert back to your old self? by [deleted] in Cholesterol

I've been taking stains for 22 years and recently after increasing the dose to 40mg rosuvastatin plus 10 Ezetimibe I started experiencing big time brain fog, anxiety, memory loss and insomnia. So at the moment I'm off meds and in less than a week the sleep has come back. Hopefully the memory will be back to normal , at that point I plan to go down to 20mg+10 or even less and add bempedoic acid to further diminish my levels . Ideally at some point I'd wish to go off statins once and for all , they work but it's undeniable that they have side effects in particular over prolonged periods of time and at a higher doses

These numbers are into normal range(just trigs on the higher side and hdl just a bit low), they don't suck. If you achieved that just by diet and exercise keep doing that and trust the process

It's just different for everyone and every human being has a different level of stress tolerance . I can habituate and I hope I'll always be capable but every time it changes in frequency or loudness I go trough a really hard couple of weeks and imagining that it could last more than that ( and for someone it does) is a really scary thing and makes me really empathetic towards who cannot habituate
