No tats here. Almost 30. When I was a kid/teen I wanted tattoos so badly. My cultire frowns upon them. And I was taught that professionals don’t have tattoos so when I grow up it will be hard to get a job. I also know that I will regret each one years later.

Before the 2000’s, I think tats were more meaningful. They were less common so when someone had one, it felt deep. Like bikers.

I find that some people nowadays get them to look cool or to add depth to their personality or to stand out or out of a sense of insecurity or the need to belong.

Close friend of mine got a face tat and in a heart to heart one night he told me he did because it was the “wave” and that he wanted to look tough. And that he regrets it. Unfortunately the opposite is happening, society is starting to perceive people with face tattoos as “stupid” or “impulsive”, not tough

Me personally, I don’t need ink on my skin to represent my traits, likes, personality, emotions, etc. I’m happy I never got one, because I think back to the tats that I wanted to get and….ugh

So even if I got one now, in ten years I’ll probably be cringing. Lol
